Man Wearing Orange Traffic Vest Robs Store: Glenview Police Blotter
Responding officers found the suspect's car in the area before it fled at a high rate of speed.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

- Justin Hoover, 20, of the 3900 block of Crestwood Drive, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, speeding 35 mph or more over the speed limit, and was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Sept. 3, after a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Willow Road. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Oct. 5.
- Norman Carranza, 49, of the 600 block of Maple Court, Mount Prospect, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Sept. 3, after an investigation of a suspicious vehicle call in the 3800 block of Knight Street, Glenview. Carranza was released on bond, with a court date set for Oct. 5.
- Miguel Jiminez-Mancilla, 39, of the 1200 block of Hillside Drive, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, minimum speed regulation, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 3:26 a.m. Sept. 4, following a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Willow Rd. He was released on bond with a court date set for Oct. 5.
- Phuoc Hien Tran, 39, of the 4400 block of N. Malden Street, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level over .08, speeding, and was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Sept. 1, following a traffic stop in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 16.

THEFT

- A landscape company performing work in the 900 block of Glenayre Drive reported the theft of landscape equipment at 12:50 p.m. Aug. 30. A second landscape company in the area was found to possess the first company’s equipment. The equipment was returned to its rightful owner.
- A resident in the 2200 block of Harrison Street called police to report the theft of two bicycles from a side yard sometime in the overnight hours of Aug. 31.
- A Lombard resident reported at 10:27 a.m. Aug. 31, the theft of a purse from a shopping while at a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road.
- A resident in the 500 block of Lotus Lane called police at 8:42 p.m. Sept. 1, to report sending multiple payments through Zelle to someone for car parts. No car parts were delivered.
- A resident in the 200 block of Nora Avenue reported on Sept. 2 stole her son’s GT Aggressor Pro mountain bicycle between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. from the bicycle rack in front of a building in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue.
REVOKED/SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE
- A resident was cited at 11:53 p.m. Aug. 30, for driving on a revoked license following a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on bond with a court date set for Oct 20.
- A Chicago resident was cited at 12:10 a.m. Sept. 2, for suspended driver's license, obstructed windshield, no rear registration light, following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road. They were released on bond with a court date set Sept. 21.
SPEEDING
A Franklin Park resident was cited at 3:32 a.m. Aug. 31, for speeding (35+ mph over the speed limit), following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were released on bond.
BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE
- A resident in the 400 block of Washington Street reported that between 5:43 p.m. and 5:48 p.m. Aug. 31, someone entered their unlocked vehicle as it sat parked in a parking lot in the 3600 block of Glenview Road and stole a purse.
- A resident in the 300 block of Washington Street called police at 1:33 a.m. Sept. 2, to report hearing a door slam on their vehicle, which was parked outside the residence, and a suspect running from the car. The suspect stole a yellow safety vest from the inside of the vehicle.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Larkdale Drive reported at 9:44 a.m. Sept. 2, someone entered and rummaged through their unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway during the overnight hours.
RETAIL THEFT
- A business in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 7:08 p.m. Sept. 1, a female entered the store, gathered items into a cooler and left the store without paying for the items.
- A business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 1:11 p.m. Sept. 2, to report a man wearing an orange traffic vest entered the store at 12:59 p.m., stole items, and then fled in a vehicle. Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle in the area, which fled at a high rate of speed.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
While on the scene of a burglary to motor vehicle incident at 1:49 a.m. Sept. 2, police located an interior dome light on in a vehicle parked in the driveway in the 400 block of Washington Street. The vehicle owner said nothing appeared to be missing from the inside of the vehicle.
STOLEN VEHICLE
A Milwaukee, Wisconsin, resident reported at 6:12 a.m. Sept. 2, his vehicle was stolen from the area around Colfax and Harlem during the overnight hours. The keys were left in the vehicle, and credit cards left in the car were used at various gas stations in Illinois.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- A Des Plaines resident called police on Sept. 2 to report that between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 2, someone scratched her vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard.
- A business in the 2100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:39 p.m. Sept. 3, someone threw a rock through the window of the business, causing it to shatter.
- A business in the 2100 block of Waukegan Road reported that between Sept. 3 and Sept. 4, someone threw a rock through a window at the front of the business.
POSSESSION OF CANNABIS
An Evanston resident was stopped for speeding at 7:17 p.m. Sept. 3, in the 300 block of East Lake Avenue. Officers observed a bag containing cannabis items by the center console, which were not odor proof, did not have a label, and were easily accessible to the driver. The driver was cited for unlawful possession of cannabis and speeding, with a court date of Oct. 20 assigned.
