Driver Exposes Self; Multiple Vacuum Cleaner Thefts: Blotter
A driver exposed himself to a fellow driver; a business reported vacuum cleaner thefts on several occasions: Glenview Police Blotter.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Joaquin Rocha-Martinez, 59, of the 4000 block of Wood Street, Chicago, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked driver's license, failure to wear a seat belt, and was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Aug. 31 following a traffic stop in the 100 block of Shermer Road. He was released on a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of Sept. 30.

- A resident in the 4100 block of Kennicott Lane reported at 6:18 a.m. Aug. 25 someone entered three unlocked vehicles parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and searched the interiors. A canvass bag, money and pills were taken. The reported loss is $285.
- An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 4:42 a.m. Sept. 1 to report someone entered four unlocked cars in the parking lot and took items from inside. The amount of loss is unknown.
COMPUTER TAMPERING
An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Chestnut Avenue reported at 1:19 p.m. Aug. 25 someone hacked into a computer during an online Zoom meeting.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Pleasant Lane resident called police at 2:29 p.m. Aug. 25 to report their employer said someone applied for unemployment benefits using the resident’s personal information who did not file for benefits. There is no reported loss.
- A Waukegan Road resident reported at 4:49 p.m. Aug. 25 receiving a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security confirming their application for unemployment benefits. They never applied for benefits. There is no reported loss.
- A Patriot Boulevard resident called police at 2:17 p.m. Aug. 27 to report someone used their credit card number to purchase a computer without authorization. The reported loss is $990.
- A Neil Lane resident reported at 5:41 p.m. Aug. 26 receiving a letter from the Illinois Department of Employment Security approving unemployment benefits. They did not apply for benefits.
- A Plymouth Place resident called police at 9:22 a.m. Aug. 29 to report someone used their credit card without authorization to make a computer purchase. There is no reported loss.
- A Cariann Lane resident reported at 11:50 a.m. Aug. 31 someone ordered a computer using their personal information without authorization. The reported loss is $1,900.
- A Valcour Drive resident called police at 11:37 a.m. Aug. 31 to report someone gained access to their telephone number and access to their financial information. There is no reported loss.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
- A resident in the 3800 block of Gregory Drive called police at 9:19 a.m. Aug. 26 to report someone entered their residence through an unsecured door at 2:10 a.m. Aug. 24. There is no reported loss.
- A resident in the 3800 block of Gregory Drive reported at 1:29 p.m. Aug 26 someone attempted to gain entry to the locked rear sliding door of the residence. There is no loss.
RETAIL THEFT
- An employee of a business in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road called police at 10:10 a.m. Aug. 26 to report someone took four bottles of alcohol off the shelf, concealed them under clothing and walked out of the store without paying. The reported loss is $157.
- An employee of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard reported at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 28 someone took three vacuums and left through an alarmed exit door without paying for the merchandise. The reported loss is $580.
- An employee of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard called police at 10:55 a.m. Aug. 30 to report someone took two vacuum cleaners from display and left the store through an alarmed exit without paying. The reported loss is $580.
THEFT
- An employee of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 3:25 p.m. July 29 someone took cash and merchandise from the store without authorization. The reported loss is $1,050.
- A customer of a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 8:54 p.m. Aug. 26 to report an unsecured bike was stolen from the back of the business. The reported loss is $200.
- An employee of a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 9:44 a.m. Aug. 28 someone purchased a vehicle through fraudulent means. The reported loss is $95,000.
- A resident in the 2700 block of Karen Lane called police at 12:31 p.m. Aug. 31 to report receiving a call from someone who offered electronic service. The caller required payment by gift cards and the service was not performed. The reported loss is $3,000.
- A resident in the 1700 block of Pickwick Lane reported at 11:43 a.m. Aug. 31 a job offer from an online source requiring the deposit of checks and a return payment. The checks were fraudulent. The reported loss is $5,000.
- A customer in the 3800 block of Willow Road called police at 4:21 p.m. Aug. 31 to report someone took a wallet from an unsecured locker. The reported loss is $450.
PUBLIC INDECENCY
A customer of a business in the 2500 block of Compass Road reported at 3:49 p.m. Aug. 27 a man in an adjacent vehicle exposed his genitals.
HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION
- An employee of a business in the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue called police at 5:54 p.m. Aug. 27 to report unwanted messages over social media
- A Winnetka Road resident reported at 9:24 a.m. Aug. 24 receiving unwanted text messages.
- A Longvalley Road resident called police at 4:37 p.m. Aug. 31 to report receiving unwanted e-mails.
- A Silverpine Drive resident reported at 7:40 p.m. Aug. 31 receiving unwanted text messages.
AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT
- A Camden Drive resident called police at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 28 to report receiving a Key Bank debit card in the mail from the Illinois Department of Employment Security after someone applied for unemployment benefits using their personal information.
- A Mulberry Court resident reported at 3:44 p.m. Aug. 28 their employer said someone applied for unemployment benefits using the employee’s personal information.
- A Commons Drive resident called police at 10:54 a.m. Aug. 28 to report receiving a Key Bank debit card in the mail from the Illinois Department of Employment Security and did not apply for benefits. There is no reported loss.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
An employee of a business in the 1700 block of Glenview Road reported at 9:40 a.m. Aug. 29 someone damaged two door locks on the door of the business. The reported loss is $50.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
A resident in the 900 block of Arbor Lane called police at 1:13 a.m. Aug. 30 to report someone was on their property without permission.
THEFT OR LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY
A resident in the 1800 block of Admiral Court reported at 12:02 p.m. Aug. 31 an I-pad was lost and could not be found. The reported loss is $600.
BATTERY
An employee of a business in the 3200 block of Glenview Road called police at 10:51 a.m. Aug. 31 to report being slapped and punched on the left cheek.
