Employee Punched After Intervening In Store Brawl: Blotter
The employee was trying to stop a fight between two customers inside the store: Glenview Police Blotter.

Steven D. Sophier, 36, of the 8800 block of Mason Avenue, Morton Grove, is accused of driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to yield, and was arrested after being involved in a traffic accident at 3:45 p.m. Dec. 28, 2020, in the 300 block of Waukegan Road. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond, and assigned a court date of Jan. 14 in Skokie.

- Ricardo Campos, 24, of the 5200 block of Melvina Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, speeding, and was arrested at 2:06 a.m. Dec. 31, 2020, in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Feb. 16 in Skokie.
- Beksultan Mirzaev, 28, of the 2300 block of West Arthur Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level over .08, speeding, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:51 p.m. Jan. 2 in the 200 block of East Lake Avenue. He was released after posting $1,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Feb. 19 in Skokie.
BURGLARY
Marquis Williams, 33, of Michigan City, Indiana, is accused of burglary after an investigation of a car burglary on Dec. 14 in the 1500 block of Winnetka Road, and was arrested at 1:11 p.m. Jan. 1 at the Wilmette Police Department. He was taken for a bond hearing at the Skokie Courthouse.
INCIDENTS
THEFT OF SERVICES
An employee of a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 10:12 a.m. Dec. 29, 2020, of being notified by their credit card service of multiple charge backs for fraudulent purchases. Total reported loss is $153.55.
RETAIL THEFT
- An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road called police at 2:35 p.m. Dec. 29, 2020, to report a female placed vitamins and cosmetic products into a duffle bag and left the store without paying for the items. The loss is unknown at this time.
- Halina Masliy, 29, of the 8300 block of West Addison Street, Chicago, was issued a Village citation for theft at 3:35 p.m. Jan. 1 after an incident at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive.
- An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported at 5:02 p.m. Jan. 1 a male and two females placed numerous cosmetics products in their bags and left the store without paying. The reported loss is $1,450.19.
- An employee of a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road called police at 6:11 p.m. Jan. 3 to report a male left the store with two bottles of motor oil without paying for the items. Total reported loss is $15.98.
HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICE
A Shermer Road resident reported at 6:34 p.m. Dec. 29, 2020, receiving unwanted telephone calls and text messages from an acquaintance.
BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
- An employee of a business in the 200 block of Waukegan Road called police at 12:07 p.m. Dec. 30, 2020, to report video surveillance showing an unknown person remove the snow plow controllers from two pick-up trucks. Total reported loss is $850.
- A resident in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported someone entered their vehicle between 7:30 p.m Jan. 3 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 3. The vehicle was rummaged through and missing were two wallets. Total reported loss is $506.42.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY
A citizen called police at 7:43 p.m. Dec. 30, 2020, to report a vehicle was doing donuts in the grass at Sleepy Hollow Park, 1821 Maplewood Lane. The unknown vehicle damaged the grass west of the parking lot. Unknown cost for the damage at this time.
ASSAULT
An employee of a business in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 5:32 p.m. Dec. 31 two customers caused a disturbance inside the store while having an argument.
MINOR IN POSSESSION
- Connor Monogan, 20, of the 2200 block of Linneman Street, Glenview, was issued a Village ordinance at 7:56 p.m. Dec. 31, 2020, for minor in possession of alcoholic beverages, minor in possession of a false ID, after an investigation in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue. Shamel Shlimon, of the 9200 block of O’Dell Avenue, Morton Grove, was issued a Village ordinance citation for alcoholic beverage sales to a minor.
- Three minors — two 19-year-old males from Prospect Heights and an 18-year-0ld female from Wheeling — were issued Village ordinance citations for minor in possession of alcohol, possession of less than 10 grams of cannabis, at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 2 following an investigation in the 1600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
BATTERY
An employee of a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road reported at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 1 that when they had to intervene between two customers who were arguing, the employee was punched by one of the customers.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- An employee of a business in the 700 block of Waukegan Road called police at 7:13 a.m. Jan. 1 to report someone broke the glass to the store’s entry door. The reported loss is $300.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Lily Lane reported at 6:20 p.m. Jan. 2 someone damaged three strings of lights on the front of their residence. The reported loss is $51.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident in the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue called police at 12:23 p.m. Jan. 1 to report giving personal identifying information to an unknown person on the telephone after receiving a receipt from Apple for items they never purchased. The unknown person said he could help void the transaction but needed to collect their bank account information. Funds were then stolen from their bank account. The reported loss is $10,522.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:21 a.m. Jan. 2 an unknown customer used a false name and fraudulent checks to purchase merchandise on six separate occasions. The reported loss is $4,124.30.
UNWANTED PERSON
An employee of a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 5:37 p.m. Jan. 3 to report a customer was being rude and yelling loudly inside the business. The customer was identified and given a trespass warning by officers.
THEFT BY DECEPTION
A Warren Road resident reported at 2:40 p.m. Jan. 4 he received a phishing email which they responded to and provided account information. The money in the account was then transferred to other unknown accounts. Total reported loss is $15,481.30.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee of a business in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road called police at 8:41 p.m. Jan. 4 to report hearing tapping on a window. Another employee saw two people standing by the front door and one was holding a bat. They knocked on the door and tried to open it, but it was locked. They left in an unknown direction. The male holding the bat was described as 16-18 years of age, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6, thin build, and wearing all black. There was no description of the other.
