Fake Contractor Talks Resident Outside Before Burglary: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Someone damaged a tree on the 2200 block of Swainwood Drive and caused $500 damage, a resident reported on the afternoon of Aug. 14.
THEFT

On Aug. 15 at 10:48 a.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Kaywood Lane reported someone took $1,000 worth of home décor items from a house.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A fake contractor claiming to be working for a neighbor lured a resident out of their home and into the back yard. There were $475 worth of personal items later found missing from the home.
THEFT
On Aug. 15 at 4:52 p.m., an employee in the 2000 block of Johns Court reported a customer did not pay for $400 worth of service on their vehicle.
THEFT
Shortly before midnight on Aug. 15, a guest in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported someone entered a room and stole $1,000 worth of clothing.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On Aug. 16 at 3:34 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Sequoia Drive reported someone walked between two houses and urinated.
IDENTITY THEFT
On Aug. 16 at 3:06 p.m., a resident in the 800 block of Wagner Road reported someone opened a fraudulent telephone account in their name for a loss of $150.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
On Aug. 16 at 4:19 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of Radcliffe Court reported someone cashed a fraudulent check on their bank account for a loss of $1,700.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone opened up two bank accounts and misappropriated a reported $5,000 by using the name of a resident in the 3900 block of Gloria Court, police were told on the evening of Aug. 16.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A patron in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported someone damaged two of their tires while the car was parked in the lot on the afternoon of Aug. 17. The reported loss was $300.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug. 18, a motorist in the 4000 block of Willow Road reported another driver kicked the rear passenger door of his car after a traffic dispute, doing a reported $1,000 in damage.
DISTURBANCE
On Aug. 20 at 8:44 a.m., an employee in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road reported two customers caused a disturbance when their request for additional medication was refused.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A couple started arguing and threw a cup of coffee after being refused service at a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue, an employee reported at 6:10 a.m. on Aug. 21.
IDENTITY THEFT
On the morning of Aug. 21, a resident in the 2400 block of Happy Hollow Road reported someone attempted to open three fraudulent accounts using their personal information, but there was no reported loss.
THEFT
On the morning of Aug. 21, a resident in the 300 block of Harlem Avenue reported someone stole landscape pavers for a reported loss of $100.
BURGLARY
At 1:43 a.m. on Aug. 22, officers discovered the front door window shattered at a store in the 3700 block of Willow Road after being alerted by an alarm. The amount of loss is unknown.
ARRESTS
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Daniel Juareque, 59, of the 1300 block of West Branch Drive in Northfield was arrested Aug. 14 at 6:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of Westleigh Drive and charged with disorderly conduct.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 19-year-old Palatine woman was arrested on Aug. 14 at 11:24 p.m., charged with driving with a suspended license and cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle in the 3900 block of Willow Road.
RETAIL THEFT
Michael Wadley, 61, of the 11300 block of South Stewart Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. after an investigation in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road.
HIT AND RUN
Clayton Spellman, 50, of the 900 block of Revere Road, was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 and charged with failure to give information after striking an unattended vehicle in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road.
DUI
James Sangmin Suk, 41, of the 2500 block of Cotswold Court in Northbrook, was arrested on Aug. 19 at 12:59 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for speeding, improper lane usage and screeching of tires in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road.
DUI
Nancy Getschow, 68, of the 1400 block of Pebble Creek Drive, was arrested on Aug. 19 at 1:22 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. She was also cited for improper lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol in the 200 block of Waukegan Road.
FLEEING AND ELUDING
Renee Karns, of the 11900 block of Sterling Drive in Orland Park, was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 20 and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police in the 2100 block of Sanders Road. She was also cited for speeding more than 35 mph above the speed limit and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.
