Federal Drug-Free Grant Issued to Glenbrook South

A federal grant for more than $100,000 will help fund a Glenbrook South coalition that focuses on issues of youth drug use and abuse.

Illinois 10th District Rep. Robert Dold, R-Kenilworth announced the $125,000 federal drug free communities grant to Glenbrook High School District 225 this week, according to the Glenview Journal. The funds will help the Glenview Northbrook Coalition for Youth hire a coalition coordinator and communications specialist “to support messaging and social media education campaigns, training for education for members, community groups, agencies, staffers and students and parents in elementary and high schools,” according to the Journal.

“I am thrilled to announce that Glenbrook High School District 225 will be receiving a $125,000 grant to strengthen community collaboration and prevent youth substance abuse,”said Dold. “There are no easy solutions to the drug abuse epidemic, but this grant is a great step in the right direction for our community, and I am committed to putting in the hard work required to make progress alongside our many community partners.

The coalition includes District 225 staff and stakeholders from Glenview, Northbrook and Northfield Township including Dist. 225, Glenview and Northbrook elementary school districts, Glenview Values Coalition, parent and student representatives, Glenview and Evanston-based Peer Services, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, Rosecrance, Glenview and Northbrook police, Glenview Park Dist., Glenview Chamber of Commerce, Alexian Behavioral Health, NorthShore University Health Systems in addition to members of the religious community.
