Janitor Gets Into Fight With Co-Worker While Cleaning School: Glenview Police Blotter

Police were conducting a premise check when they were waved down by an employee.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Kathryn Matthews, 44, of the 1000 block of Linden Avenue, Wilmette, is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 5:23 p.m. Feb. 5. The arrest followed an investigation into a hit-and-run incident on Jan. 14 in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road. Matthews was released and assigned a court date of March 11.

AGGRAVATED FLEEING/ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE PEACE OFFICER

Terrance Bramlett, 31, of the 6000 block of N. Sheridan Road, Chicago is accused of aggravated fleeing to elude a peace officer at a rate of speed 21 mph over the speed limit, fleeing to elude an officer, driving while license suspended, reckless driving, speeding 35 mph over the limit, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper passing on the left, expiration of registration, and was arrested at 1:11 p.m. Feb. 2, in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Police said Bramlett had fled a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Glenview Road before his arrest. He was released and assigned a court date of Feb. 4.

WARRANT

Samarah C. Hopkins, of the 700 block of Sharon Avenue, Park City, had an active warrant out of Lake County and was arrested at 3:43 a.m. Feb. 3, during a citizen assist at Emerald Place, 1879 Chestnut Ave. She was ultimately turned over to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION

Martin J. Lajewski, 48, of Glenview, is accused of three counts of violation of an order of protection for a new incident, two counts from prior incidents, as well as theft, and was arrested at 7:59 Feb. 3. Responding police said Lajewski initially ran from them, but was ultimately arrested.

INCIDENTS

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 900 block of Church Street reported at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 3, her vehicle's wheel and tire had been stolen as it was parked overnight.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A Texas resident reported at 5:55 p.m. Feb. 3, that the catalytic converter on his rental car was cut off and stolen in the lot of a business on the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

RETAIL THEFT

Loss prevention at a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 12:48 p.m. Feb. 4, someone had stolen a shirt worth $79. The person was issued a local ordinance citation for theft.

THEFT

  • A Prospect Heights resident reported at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 5, her cell phone, valued at $500, had been taken from a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road.
  • A Northbrook resident reported at 6:12 p.m. Feb. 5, he had left his Canada Goose jacket, valued at $400, and Audi key fob in an unlocked locker at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road.
  • A resident reported at 6:57 p.m. Feb. 5, that his co-worker was selling Chicago Bears tickets for $10,400. He said he paid for the tickets but never received them. The co-worker admitted to not delivering the tickets, but is working on refunding the money.

INFORMATION FOR POLICE

Police said an uncooperative Chicago resident reported at 5:25 p.m. Feb. 5, that his rental vehicle was taken from a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road. The person reported that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle, but after further investigation, police said the surveillance cameras show two occupants. The reporting party was still uncooperative and refused further police assistance.

TRESPASS WARNING

Employees of a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive reported at 8:57 a.m. Feb. 6, that a customer had been flirting with staff about a month ago. The customer was told not to come back by staff, but did on the day of the new report. The customer did not cause any issues today, but employees wanted him given a trespass warning because of his past incident. The customer reportedly left before police arrival.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE, TRESPASS TO PROPERTY

A resident of the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported at 2:07 p.m. Feb. 9, an unknown man, described as Asian and between the ages of 40 and 45, had been jiggling the door handle to his apartment. The complainant opened the door and saw the person sitting on the porch repeatedly saying, "Sorry, sorry." Approximately 15 minutes later, the person returned and broke through the front door by kicking it. The complainant confronted the person in the doorway, who again apologized before fleeing on foot.

BATTERY

Police were conducting a premise check at 10:49 p.m. Feb. 9, in the 3900 block of Glenview Road, and were waved down by an employee. The employee was cleaning the school and got into a physical altercation with her co-worker. Police said there were conflicting statements from both parties, but no injuries, and no complaints to be signed.
