Thief Steals $10K Chanel Bag From Unlocked Home: Glenview Police Blotter

Police said the incident occurred in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road.

Madelyn Escobar, 37, of the 3400 block of W. Hirsch Street, Chicago, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 9 a.m. Jan. 30, at the Skokie Courthouse. The charges stem from an investigation into an incident on Sept. 25, 2024. She was processed and released back into the custody of the Cook County Department of Corrections.

REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Samuel Martinez, 37, of the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, Skokie, is accused of having a revoked driver's license, registration suspended for non-insurance, no insurance, and was arrested at 2:59 a.m. Feb. 2, in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of March 11.

INCIDENTS

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

The manager of a business in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported at 10:17 a.m. Jan. 27, two unknown people had entered the storage room and removed items without permission. The total loss is $3,300.

RETAIL THEFT

  • Employees of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported on Jan. 27 that at 6:08 p.m. Jan. 22, a male had entered the store and concealed $1,720.62 worth of medication in a reusable shopping bag, then left without paying for the items.
  • Employees for a business in the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 2:56 p.m. Jan. 27, a customer had concealed food in a bag and left without paying. They were stopped outside and were given a trespass warning not to return to the business.
  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 12:11 p.m. Jan. 30, a female had entered the store and took approximately $1,340 worth of clothing without paying.

THEFT

A resident of the 3500 block of Maple Leaf Drive reported at 9:23 a.m. Jan. 30, power tools were taken from the basement. The resident recently purchased the house and the flooring contractors were the only ones with access to the house, all of whom denied taking the tools. The value of the tools is approximately $2,000.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 8:07 a.m. Jan. 31, someone had entered the residence and taken a Chanel handbag worth $10,000. The homeowner believes the front door was unlocked. No other items were taken or disturbed. The homeowner did not want to sign complaints.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident in the 4100 block of Cove Lane reported at 7:04 a.m. Feb. 1, his vehicle had been taken from his residence during the overnight hours. Broken glass was discovered and the victim had both key fobs in their possession. The vehicle was run by several other agencies during the overnight hours.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A customer of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 4:36 p.m. Feb. 2, she had been approached by a male, who asked questions about her relationship status that made her uncomfortable. The male was contacted by phone and denied having an inappropriate conversation.
