Man Conceals $800 In Stolen Meds In Birthday Bag: Glenview PD Blotter

Nauman Karamali, 40, of the 7500 block of Crawford Avenue, Skokie, had two warrants out of DuPage County for failure to appear, and was arrested at 8:56 p.m. April 23, during a traffic stop in the 4800 block of West Lake Avenue. He posted bond on the warrants and was released with a return court date of June 12.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Miguel Reyes, 49, of the 6100 block of N. Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving while license suspended, possessing a suspended driver's license, speeding 15 to 20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:49 a.m. April 25, after a traffic stop in the 800 block of Waukegan Road. He was released and assigned a court date of May 15.

INCIDENTS

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident in the 3700 block of Lindenwood Lane reported at 8:08 a.m. April 24, a large dark-colored SUV drove by his residence with the lights off. Someone from the vehicle threw eggs at the house.

TRESPASS WARNING

Employees of a business in the 900 block of Harlem Avenue reported at 7:18 p.m. April 24, a male took merchandise past the last point of purchase and left the store without paying. The male told the employee he only had $11 in his Venmo account, which they told him was not an acceptable form of payment. The male was located in the area and identified. Police said he admitted to taking the merchandise, which they returned to the officers. The store did not want a theft report, but wanted them given a trespass notice not to return.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

Graffiti was found at 9:22 p.m. April 24, on the southernmost pump house owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, located at 1891 Westleigh Drive. A six pointed star with the number 6 inside it, along with “kking kkilla” were written in black spray paint.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

Police responded to a business in the 2600 block of Shermer Road at 4:01 a.m. April 23, for a burglar alarm. The front glass door was shattered upon arrival. Surveillance video showed an unknown vehicle with silver rims and a silver gas lid pull up to the front of the business. A thin build male is seen throwing a rock through the front window. Two males are seen entering the store. One is wearing a maroon color hoodie with black face covering and red/white checker pajama pants. The second male is wearing a darker color hoodie with a black face covering, a fanny pack with white writing over it that was slung across his chest, black pants, and white shoes. Total loss of $455.86 worth of merchandise.

TRESPASSING

An employee reported at 1:05 a.m. April 27, seeing, via security cameras, two unknown males inside the unoccupied building in the 2200 block of Sanders Road. Officers checked the entire building and did not locate anyone inside.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An agent for a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported a retail theft that had occurred on April 25. An unknown male stole several over the counter medications by concealing them in a "Happy Birthday" bag. It was unknown what type of vehicle the suspect left the area in. Total loss is $768.78.
  • An asset protection officer for a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported at 9:15 p.m. April 27, a theft had occurred. The employee explained while reviewing store security footage, they saw a male, 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, black Adidas t-shirt, black pants, and black shoes exit the store with 15 bottles of alcohol without paying. The estimated loss was $511.85.

FLEEING AND ELUDING

Police attempted to stop a motorcycle at 8:25 p.m. April 28, in the area of Glenview Road and Harms Road. There was no registration on the vehicle. The male driver did not stop and continued committing several traffic violations while fleeing the officer. The driver is described as having a thin build, wearing a black hoodie, a white helmet, white gloves, and dark pants. The motorcycle appeared to be a mix between a sport bike and a dirt bike, with an LED headlight, light colored gas tank, and dark blue/purple frame. The person is wanted for aggravated fleeing and eluding, no valid registration, reckless driving, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control device, and right turn on red.

THEFT

A resident in the 1800 block of Admiral Court reported on April 29 someone had used their credit card without authorization. Multiple purchases were made online and in person at a roofing supply store and on various websites.

ORDINANCE VIOLATION

A resident in the 600 block of Surrey Lane reported at 7:09 p.m. April 29, two people illegally dumped large and bulky garbage into the dumpster at their property.
