Man With Shotgun Seen Walking Around: Glenview Police Blotter

A resident saw the man walking around his neighborhood during the afternoon hours, according to police.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Jaffet Masso, 22, of the 1800 block of Narragansett Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, improper lane usage, and was arrested at 3:38 a.m. July 16, in the 100 block of Waukegan Road. Masso was released on a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 31.

Kevin Stevens, 29, of the 1200 block of Highland Lane, Glenview, and Alvaro Escalante, 30, of the 1900 block of Ammer Ridge Court, Glenview, are accused of battery following the investigation of an incident in the 1800 block of Wyndham Circle, and were arrested at 2:53 a.m. July 17. Both Stevens and Escalante were released after each posting a $100 C-Bond, pending a court date of Aug. 5.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A resident of the 3200 block of Ronald Road called police to report that between 10 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. July 11, someone damaged their front door frame and doorbell of their residence.
  • A resident in the 1600 block of Greenwood Avenue reported that between July 15 and July 17, someone damaged their mailbox.

THEFT

  • A Chicago resident reported at 10:41 a.m. July 12, someone stole their Rolex watch from a business in the 1300 block of Glenview Road.
  • A Glenview resident called police at 3:46 p.m. July 12, to report they received a text message from a cryptocurrency investor named "Alicia." "Alicia" said she would invest money on the victim’s behalf. The victim transferred money to "Alicia," but has yet to her back from her.
  • A California resident called police at 1:33 p.m. July 13, someone stole several items of jewelry from a locked jewelry box at their mother’s residence in the 2500 block of Indigo Lane.
  • A Glenview resident reported that between midnight and 2:33 a.m. July 14, someone stole their bicycle while it was parked unlocked at a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road.
  • A resident of the 1300 block of Canterbury Lane called police to report that between June 21 and June 24, someone stole two Pride flags from the front of their residence.

BURGLARY

  • The Glenview Fire Department reported at 9:25 p.m. July 13, someone broke the northeast lower windows of a building in the 1900 block of East Lake Avenue. The subjects entered the building and discharged a fire extinguisher.
  • A business owner in the 2000 block of Johns Drive called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 14, someone damaged and burglarized numerous vehicles on the property.
  • A Chicago resident reported at 4:51 p.m. July 17, finding a male sleeping in their residence in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The victim yelled at him, and he woke up and left through an open window.

ARMED ROBBERY

Glenview police responded to Antiques by GK, 1705 Glenview Road, at 10:25 a.m. July 14, for a report of an armed robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed a male suspect entered the store and threatened two employees with an edged weapon. The male suspect tied up both employees and stole an unknown amount of jewelry. The employees did not report any injuries. The suspect was last seen westbound on Dewes Street in a tan-colored Cadillac sedan with an unknown license plate. THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A Niles resident reported that between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. July 13, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a business on Waukegan Road.
  • A resident of the 1700 block of Pickwick Lane reported at 1:53 a.m. July 15, someone in a red sedan removed the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked on the street.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A resident of the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive called police at 3:13 p.m. July 15, to report seeing a male with blonde hair and blue shorts, walking around the area with a shotgun. An officer searched the area with negative results.

FRAUD

A Northbrook resident reported on July 15 hiring a contractor to remodel a business in the 1800 block of Glenview Road. The contractor, located in the 1000 block of Midway Road, Northbrook, received payment, but never completed the work.

BATTERY

  • A resident in the 1700 block of Greenwood Road called police to report at 6 p.m. July 15, they were punched repeatedly by two men in a driveway.
  • A Schaumburg resident reported at 8:51 p.m. July 16, while working at a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue, a customer pushed them. The customer was located walking home and given a trespass warning.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident of the 1400 block of Evergreen Terrace reported that at 1 a.m. July 16, someone attempted to gain entry into their car by pulling on the door handles. The incident was captured on his Ring video.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

A Glenview resident reported at 6:56 p.m. July 16, they received a series of threatening text messages, in Spanish, from an unknown number.

IDENTITY THEFT

An employee for a business in the 200 block of Waukegan Road called police at 10:58 a.m. July 18, to report someone used the identifying information of a Lockport resident, in an attempt to purchase a vehicle online. Employees recognized the information as fraudulent and denied the transaction.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A loss prevention manager for a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road called police to report at 1:52 p.m. July 17, a suspect stole a Dyson Vacuum, valued at $749.99.
  • An employee of a business in the 2400 block of Sanders Road called police at 3:01 p.m. July 18, to report a female stole cigars valued at $8.49.
