Man Steals 60 Bottles Of Liquor From Mariano's; PS5 Scam: Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Enedina Reyes-Martinez, 49, of the 9000 block of Embassy Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of no valid driver's license, driving without lights when required, and was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Jan. 15 following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Waukegan Road. She was released on $2,500 bond, and assigned a court date of Feb. 3 in Skokie.

Arlena Rebecca Urquiza, 30, of San Bernandino, California, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, failure to dim headlights, and was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Jan. 16 in the 9700 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was released after posting $3,000 bond, and assigned a court date of Feb. 19.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY

  • Police responded at 2:55 a.m. Jan. 13 to an alarm activation for a front glass break and multiple interior motion activations at a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard. Officers found the front glass broken by a brick laying on the floor. Electronics and currency were reported stolen. Total reported loss is $6,500.
  • Officers responded at 3:03 a.m. Jan. 13 to an alarm activation in the 3700 block of Willow Road. The glass to the front door was shattered, but no entry was made inside. Total reported loss is $1,000.

STOLEN VEHICLE

An employee with a car dealership in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported at 11:33 a.m. Jan. 13 that someone financed a vehicle with fraudulent personal information. The person has not returned the vehicle after numerous requests. Total reported loss is $15,899.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICE

A resident in the 100 block of Center Branch Road called police at 12:04 a.m. Jan. 13 to report receiving unwanted text messages from an unknown person.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A resident in the 200 block of Montgomery Lane reported at 12:09 p.m. Jan. 13 a man knocked on their back door. He said there was a downed line in the area, and he needed to shut off the power to the house. The resident refused to let him in and closed the door. The subject was described as male between 5-4 and 5-7 with a medium build. A neighbor saw a black-colored SUV leaving their driveway around the same time.

FORGERY

A citizen called police at 4:04 p.m. Jan. 13 to report meeting a person they met through Facebook Marketplace to sell a PlayStation 5 in the front parking lot of the Glenview Police Department. The resident received cash for the item. It was later learned the bills were counterfeit. Total reported loss is $800.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 6:31 p.m. Jan. 13 that a customer left the store without paying for multiple items. Total reported loss is $5.27.
  • An employee of a business in the 0-100 block of Waukegan Road called police at 11:23 a.m. Jan. 15 to report that between 7:33-7:37 p.m. Jan. 13 an unknown male wearing a gray sweat suit entered Mariano’s and stole 60 bottles of liquor. Estimated loss is $1,675.60.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 200 block of Glenview Road reported at 1:36 p.m. Jan. 14 someone forced entry through a rear door of the residence. Total reported loss $1,000.
  • A resident in the 3100 block of Glenway Drive called police at 2:19 p.m. Jan. 17 to report finding an unknown person had entered the residence by force sometime between noon and 2:15 p.m. Property was reported stolen with a total loss of $1,300.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A resident in the 1400 block of Evergreen Terrace reported at 8:42 p.m. Jan. 15 three unknown male teenagers egged the house and fled the area.

THEFT

A resident of Oswego called police at 2:36 p.m. Jan. 16 to report responding to a fraudulent ad on Facebook from the Federal Grant Trade Commission and World Bank that would grant her $200,000 if they were sent them $3,500. The resident went to a bank in Glenview and transferred $3,500 to a World Bank representative from her account before realizing it was scam. Estimated loss is $3,500.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE SUPPORTED PROPERTY

An employee of the Glenview Park District reported at 2:43 p.m. Jan. 16 that between Jan. 14-16 someone broke two windows on the bathroom pavilion at Cole Park, 1031 Kenilworth Lane. Estimated damage is $500.
