Masturbator Emerges From Bushes; Dutch Boat Fraud: Blotter
Glenview Police Blotter: March 13 - March 19

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
DISPUTE
A driver in a parking lot at 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard reported shortly after oon on March 13 that another driver had been yelling at him about his driving.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 600 block of Forest Road reported at 1:26 p.m. on March 13 that someone broke a window and stole property from inside the house for a loss of $3,000.
THEFT
A customer reported at 5:15 p.m. on March 13 leaving a necklace worth $250 at a business in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road. When the patron returned, the jewelry was gone.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 100 block of Waukegan Road reported at 9:25 a.m. on March 14 that someone stole packages of razor blades worth $180.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 900 block of Golfview Road reported at 12:24 p.m. on March 14 that someone opened a line of credit using their personal information without authorization. There was no reported loss.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
An employee in the 2500 Chestnut Avenue reported at 12:48 p.m. on March 14 that they had been receiving unwanted telephone calls that accused them of being involved with a traffic crash.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:15 p.m. on March 14 that a guest dressed only in underwear had made rude comments.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
An employee in the 2500 block of Chestnut Avenue reported shortly before 10 a.m. on March 15 that they’d been receiving more unwanted telephone calls from a mobile application that generates the calls.
THEFT
A patron in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported shortly before 3 p.m. on March 15 that $190 in cash had been taken from their wallet.
THEFT
A student in the 1700 block of Sunset Ridge Road reported their iPad was missing at 3:25 p.m. on March 15 for a loss of $600.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 6 p.m. on March 16 that someone had entered the store and stole nearly $73 worth of alcohol from shelves.
ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
A resident at the 2200 block of Grandview Place reported at 11:22 a.m. on March 17 that someone had made “derogatory and threatening statements” to them on social media.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 3200 block of Knollwood Lane reported at 3:10 p.m. on March 17 that someone had used their name and address to stop their mail from being delivered.
HARASSMENT
A resident in the 1400 block of Patriot reported at 6:15 p.m. on March 17 that they had been harassed by another resident.
RUSE BURGLARY
A resident in the 1100 block of Bette Ln. reported at 3:18 p.m. on March 18 that someone had come to their door and asked to come into the home to check their water. The burglar directed the resident into the kitchen and had them run water, while communicating via radio to an accomplice. During the distraction, another person walked into the house and stole $1000 in cash. A blue small car was reportedly seen at the house. Police reminded residents that village water workers do not generally need to come into private homes.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Someone called the police claiming there was someone with a gun in the 2000 block of Tower Drive at 3:38 p.m. on March 18. The call was determined to be a hoax, and police have not identified who placed the call.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 1900 block of Tower Dr. reported around 5 p.m. on March 18 that someone ahd stolen $36 worth of clothing.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee in the 2400 block of Willow Rd. reported on March 18 that a customer had made obscene gestures to them.
LOST PROPERTY
A restaurant patron reported at 10:26 p.m on March 18 that they had lost their cell phone, worth $400, in a eatery in the 500 block of Waukegan Road.
THEFT ATTEMPT
A business owner in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road reported on March 18 that they had been getting emails and a check for $487,601 from a sender purporting to be a company in the Netherlands and asking for assistance “in a purchase of a commercial boat the United States and transfer $288,900.00 of the funds to a foreign bank to pay for inspection of the boat.” The original check returned from the bank “return to maker”; the firm cancelled the agreement and suffered no loss.
PUBLIC INDECENCY
A jogger reported at 4:45 p.m. on March 19 that they had seen a 30-35 year old male run out of bushes west of a path around the Techny Basin, 1893 Westleigh Drive, sit on a bench, pull his pants down, and masturbate.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the first block of Waukegan Road called police at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 to report someone was stealing alcohol. The shoplifter made off with nearly $241 with of alcohol and left the scene as a passenger in a car heading west on Golf Road before police arrived.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee in the 0-100 of Waukegan Road reported at 7:30 p.m. on March 19 that someone had stolen $181.77 worth of alcohol at 7:25 p.m. the prior evening.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 2600 block Goldenrod Lane, reported banging on his homes doors and windows at 8:23 p.m. on March 19. Police arrived and cited four juveniles for disorderly conduct under local ordinance and released them to parents.
BATTERY
A person leaving the gym attached to residences in the 900 block of Church Street reported at 8:43 p.m. on March 19 that a man opened his car door, put his hand on his shoulder and told him “not to drop weights” at the gym. The victim did not want to press charges.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Keith Horvath, 41, of the 5400 block of North East River Road, Chicago, was arrested at 4:53 p.m. on March 12 at the Kohl's store in the 2200 block of Willow Road and charged with retail theft.
Kir Z. Moorman, 29, of the 5400 block of South Cornell Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. on March 12 on a no-bond warrant for parole violation following a 911 all about a suspicious person walking through parking lots in the 4100 block of cove lane. He was transferred to Illinois Department of Corrections custody. The department's records show had been paroled 10 days prior while serving a seven year prison sentence for a 2014 conviction for armed robbery.
A 48-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 12:20 a.m on March 17 and charged with driving with a suspended license and ticketed for speeding and disobeying a traffic control device following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of East Lake Avenue.
A 42-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 1:04 a.m. on March 17 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 2600 block of Shermer Road. He was also cited for no rear registration light.
Robert Reimann, 22, of the 700 block of 7th Street in Northfield, was arrested at 2:49 p.m. on March 17 and charged with criminal damage to property after police determined he damaged a door, drywall, window and coffee pot at his home during a dispute.
Donna A. Syverson, 57, of the 6400 block of North Le Mai Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. on March 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1600 block of Patriot Road. She was also cited for improper lane usage. She allegedly crashed into a curb and disabled her vehicle, and witnesses called police to assist. They found she had a BAC of 0.17 and arrested her.
Mary A. Janoski, 79, of the 400 block of Fox Meadow Drive, Northfield, was arrested at 7:45 p.m. on March 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Waukegan Road. She was also ticketed for failing to signal when required.
Lori L. Knoth, 56, of the 700 block of 7th Street in Northfield, was arrested at 12:28 a.m. on March 18 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 following a traffic crash investigation in the 1700 block of Jefferson Avenue. She allegedly backed up into a pole and was too intoxicated to drive, with a test indicating she had a BAC of 0.22.
