Motorist Stopped In Traffic Charged With DUI: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY ATTEMPT
A resident in the 4500 block of Jenna Road reported around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 that someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway and rummaged through a glove box and console. There is no reported loss.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 100 block of Washington Street reported at 11:25 a.m. on Dec. 3 that someone broke in through the back door of a home, causing $40 in losses.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 2000 block of Trent Court reported at 3:14 p.m. that someone entered their residence without permission, but there was no reported loss.

FORGERY
A resident in the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive reported at 3:23 p.m. on Dec. 13 that someone had signed their name to checks worth $3,000 and then cashed them without authorization.

PACKAGE THEFT (ATTEMPT)
A resident in the 300 block of Taft Court reported at 7:03 p.m. on Dec. 13 that someone stole a package from their front porch. It was later found nearby and nothing was reported missing.

THEFT
A customer at a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported at 11:42 a.m. on Dec. 14 that someone had taken a wallet from a locker for a loss of $700.

COUNTERFEIT
An employee at a business in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 5:19 p.m. on Dec. 14 that some had made a purchase using $60 in counterfeit bills.

BATTERY
An employee at a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive reported at 9:25 a.m. on Dec. 15 that one customer intentionally spilled coffee on another.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2500 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 8 a.m. on Dec. 15 that someone had damaged some outdoor Christmas lights for a loss of $50.

UNWANTED PERSON
A resident in the 1900 block of Chestnut Avenue reported at 6:27 p.m. on Dec. 16 that someone was on their property without permission.

BURGLARY
An employee in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported at 7:01 a.m. on Dec. 17 that someone had entered the business from an adjoining business after damaging a wall. The reported loss was $600.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 900 block of Queens Lane reported shortly before 11 a.m. on Dec. 17 that someone had thrown eggs at their car and house. There was no reported loss.

THEFT
A resident in the 1100 block of Harms Road reported at 1:29 p.m. on Dec. 17 that someone entered a house and stole $4,000 worth of jewelry and clothing.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1800 block of Admiral Court reported at 8:56 p.m. on Dec. 17 that someone did $20 in damage to some outdoor Christmas lights.

UNWANTED PERSON
An employee at a business in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 12:25 a.m. on Dec. 18 that a guest was causing a disturbance in the lobby.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:07 a.m. on Dec. 18 that someone did $1,000 in damage to their car by scratching it with a sharp object.

COUNTERFEIT
An employee in the 1700 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 4:39 p.m. on Dec. 14 that someone had used $40 counterfeit bills to make a purchase.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee at a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported at 7:07 p.m. on Dec. 18 that someone stole an iPhone worth $500 from the store.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Jesus Giron, 49, of the 1500 block of North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1:34 a.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended or revoked after police received a call of a car stopped in traffic in the 3500 block of West Lake Avenue. He was also ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Kevin Zago, 39, of the 9900 block of Eden Drive, Schiller Park, was arrested at 10:10 a.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with retail theft following an investigation into an incident in the 100 block of Waukegan Road.

A 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl were arrested at 10:04 p.m. on Dec. 10 and petitioned juvenile court on charges of retail theft and released to a parent.

A 24-year-old Glenview woman was arrested at 1:50 p.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with driving without a valid license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1100 block of Golfview Road. She was also issued a citation for backing up improperly.

Derrick Anderson, 25, of the 700 block of West 81st Street, Chicago, was arrested at 10:04 p.m. on Dec. 12 and charged with retail theft, resisting arrest, reckless conduct, hit and run and and failure to give aid and information in the 1900 block of Tower Drive. There were three arrests associated with the same incident. Glenview Police Sgt. Jim Foley has not responded to a request for more information about what occurred.

Jasmine Gresham, 26, of the 0-100 block of East 36th Street, Chicago, was also arrested at 10:04 p.m. on Dec. 12. She was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest at the same location.

Wakee Felder, 23, of the 6100 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, Chicago, was also arrested in the same Dec. 12 incident. He was charged with retail theft and resisting arrest at the same location.

A 28-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 8:56 p.m. on Dec. 13 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Patriot Boulevard.

Rhommel Ramirez, 51, of the 5200 block of Fargo Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 14 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08 following a traffic crash investigation in the 1900 block of Willow Road.

A 17-year-old Chicago boy was petitioned to juvenile court for theft and aggravated identity theft in the 3800 block of Willow Road at 11:49 a.m. on Dec. 15.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested at 9:14 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license at 9:14 p.m. on Dec. 15 after a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was issued a ticket for speeding less than 20 mph over the limit.

George Kakares, 49, of the 2400 block of Fernwood Drive, Glenview, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop in the 2500 block of Golf Road. He was also issued a ticket for and speeding between 20 and 25 mph over the posted limit.

A 54-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 5:01 a.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with excessive speeding – more than 35 mph over the limit – and running a red light after a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Romero Chavez, 22, of the 0-100 block of Hickory Drive, Carpentersville, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08, driving with a suspended license in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was also issued a ticket for using lanes improperly.

A 36-year-old Mount Prospect man was arrested at 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 16 and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license and without insurance following a traffic stop in the 4900 West Lake Avenue.

Joseph Weinbender, 51, of the 1800 block of Goodwin Drive, Palatine, was arrested at 10 a.m. on Dec. 17 in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue on an outstanding bond forfeiture warrant issued by Cook County Sheriff’s Police.

A 56-year-old Glenview man was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and charged with driving on a suspended license following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 1300 block of Greenwood Avenue. He was also given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
