Multiple Carved Swastikas Found At Park: Glenview Police Blotter

Police said they were discovered on the lookout tower at Gallery Park.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Stuart C. Patterson, 59, of the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive, Glenview, had a warrant out of Pike County for disobeying a traffic control light, expired registration, and was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Aug. 12, after a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Patriot Boulevard. He was released after posting a $2,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 2.

  • Beata E. Lelo, 55, of the 5700 block of Latrobe Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, improper parking on a roadway, and was arrested at 2:50 a.m. Aug. 13, after an investigation in the 200 block of Country Lane. Lelo was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 31.
  • Luis Breton-Martinez, 25, of the 500 block of 5th Street, Northfield, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting a peace officer, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 10:21 a.m. Aug. 13, after an investigation to a traffic crash at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Lehigh Avenue. Breton-Martinez was released after posting a $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Oct. 4.

RETAIL THEFT

Angelique Payne, 22, of the 9400 block of Chestnut Avenue, Franklin Park, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested on Aug. 10 at the Cook County Department of Corrections, 2600 S. California Avenue, following an investigation into an incident on June 25 at a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road. She was released back to the custody of the Cook County Sheriff's Department on a $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 16.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident of Norton Shores, Michigan, reported that during the overnight hours of Aug. 9, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked at a business in the 4500 block of West Lake Avenue.
  • A resident of the 900 block of Arbor Lane called police at 11:05 a.m. Aug. 10, to report that during the last three weeks, someone their handicap placard from their unlocked vehicle while it was parked at an unknown location.
  • A Glenview resident in the 3200 block of West Lake Avenue reported on Aug. 10 that during the past two months, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in front of their residence.
  • A resident in the 2100 bloc of Rugen Road called police to report that between July 16 and July 17, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in front of their residence.
  • A business owner in the 3000 block of North Lake Terrace reported that between Aug. 5 and Aug. 6, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked at their business.
  • A Glenview resident called police to report that between July 31 and Aug. 5, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot in the 2600 block of Chestnut Avenue.
  • A resident in the 600 block of Clearview Drive reported at 6:09 a.m. Aug. 12, someone entered their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight.
  • A Northbrook resident called police on Aug. 13 to report that during the overnight hours, someone stole the catalytic converter from their vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road.
  • A business owner in the 3000 block of North Lake Terrace reported on Aug. 15, that at some time over the past two weeks, someone stole the catalytic converter from their van while it was parked outside the business.

FRAUD

A Glenview resident called police at 10:18 a.m. Aug. 9, to report they purchased $17,288.43 worth of concealer and hair products online from Eleon Medical in London. The resident wired the money and received an e-mail requesting them to send additional payment to purchase a certificate of free sales. At this point, they realized they had been scammed.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Glenview resident reported at 1:32 p.m. Aug. 9, someone used their Costco Visa credit card to purchase $180.84 worth of merchandise from a business in the 2500 block of 2500 Waukegan Road.
  • A Glenview resident called police at 2:22 p.m. Aug. 9, to report someone attempted to open a Chase credit card using their identifying information.
  • A Glenview resident reported at 5:17 p.m. Aug. 9, someone contacted them and said they were from Social Security. The offender requested the victim’s bank routing number and account number, which they provided.

BURGLARY

  • A resident of the 900 block of Drake Road called Aug. 9, to report that during the overnight hours, someone entered their unlocked home and stole $200 in cash and their checkbook from the desk in the living room.
  • A resident in the 700 block of Clearview Drive reported that between Aug. 11 and Aug. 12, someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway, and stole $50 in money.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Castilian Court reported at 6:17 p.m. Aug. 9, someone stole a package containing Intel Core i9 computer parts from the building’s mail area.
  • An employee of a business in the 1900 block of Johns Drive called police at 8:42 a.m. Aug. 15, to report someone stole a package containing metal plates from the front of the business.

RETAIL THEFT

An assistant manager of a business in the 2900 block of Patriot Boulevard called police at 7:49 p.m. Aug. 9, to report a man stole $1,778.84 worth of alcohol from the store.

BURGLARY ATTEMPT

A resident of the 2500 block of Central Road reported on Aug. 10 that during the overnight hours, someone moved their window well cover in the rear of their house.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 800 block of East Glenwood Road called police at 6:17 p.m. Aug. 11, to report an unknown male and female approached them in their front yard and offered to complete free landscaping work. The victim said when they refused the offer, the female suspect asked to use the bathroom and barged into their residence. The victim said as they were escorting the female suspect out of the house, they saw the male suspect coming down the stairs. Both suspects left in a cream-colored pickup truck. The victim discovered $800 in cash, an identification card, and four restaurant gift cards were missing from their bedroom.

TRESPASSING

The Glenview Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at 11:08 p.m. Aug. 11, at a business in the 1800 block of Tower Drive, and discovered someone cut two zip ties, securing the front door in order to enter the building. Officers were unable to locate any offenders inside the building.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A Glenview resident reported that between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 12, someone damaged the windshield on their vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot of a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road.

FORGERY ATTEMPT

An employee of a business in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 3:29 p.m. Aug. 13, someone attempted to purchase a refrigerator while presenting a fraudulent driver’s license. The transaction was denied.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

A resident in the 3600 block of Lawson Road called police at 2:47 p.m. Aug. 15, to report they saw a male walking around their property. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

A person reported at 6:07 p.m. Aug. 15, someone carved multiple swastikas on the lookout tower at Gallery Park, 2001 Patriot Blvd.
