Neighbor Speaks 'Nonsensical' About FBI: Glenview Police Blotter

A prior report had been made regarding the neighbor doing the same thing over the phone.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Ryan Litwin, 27, of the 9000 block of Embassy Lane, Des Plaines, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence while license revoked, DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Nov. 20, following a domestic investigation at Motel 6, 1535 Milwaukee Ave. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 20.

INCIDENTS

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

A resident of the 1700 block of Glenview Road reported at 12:39 p.m. Nov. 21, a Seminole Drive resident has been calling repeatedly and speaking nonsensical things about the FBI. A prior report was made for them doing the same thing.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Greenbriar Drive resident called police at 7:48 p.m. Nov. 21, to report their employer informed them that someone applied for unemployment benefits in their name with the State of Illinois. They will utilize their current credit monitoring services as well as make a report with the State.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A homeowner in the 400 block of Brook Lane reported that between noon and 11:42 on Nov. 22, someone had forced entry into their residence, ransacked the office and bedroom areas of the house and removed $52,000 in cash and $3,000 worth of jewelry.

BARKING DOG

A resident in the 3800 block of Glenview Road was cited at 11:50 p.m. Nov. 22, under the village ordinance for disturbance by an animal after a barking dog complaint. There were numerous previous contacts with the dog owner regarding barking dog complaints.

SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALLS

A Blake Lane resident reported on Nov. 23 that earlier in the month, they had received a phone call from an unknown person who claimed to be their son. The caller told the resident that their son was arrested and needed $14,000 to bond out. The resident was instructed to withdrawal the money from their bank which they did. The resident was advised the money would be picked up by an unknown person at an unknown time. Family members verified the son was safe, then called the Glenview police. No one showed up to collect the money.

DISTURBANCE

  • An employee of a hotel in the 1800 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 12:47 p.m. Nov. 22, to report a female adult guest was causing a disturbance at the hotel by yelling and threatening other guests and employees. The female who was highly intoxicated was contacted and transported to Glenbrook Hospital by Glenview Fire for treatment.
  • An employee of a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road called police at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 25, to report two men wrestling near the ATM at the front of the store. Both left prior to police arrival. One of the males yelled to call the police, that the other male was trying to scam him out of money. He separated from the altercation and both males left the store. The employees did not see where the males went.

THEFT

  • An employee of a contracting company called police on Nov. 22 to report that between Nov. 12 and Nov. 20, someone had removed three well pumps (total value of $3,600) from a property.
  • A Waukegan Road resident called police at 1:31 p.m. Nov. 24, to report being texted by a staffing agency through WhatsApp, with a job advertisement to sell packages. The job required them to pay a difference in customer fees and an algorithm would get them paid after. They paid approximately $8,000 to $9,000 in cryptocurrency before realizing it was a scam.
  • A Parkside resident called police at 7:14 p.m. Nov. 24, to report purchasing a Cartier brand watch from a social media page. They paid $6,000 through Zelle and their Chase Bank account and received a watch in the mail with a certificate. They brought it to the Cartier store and they verified the certificate did not match the watch and that it could not be authenticated. They requested a refund from the company, which was denied, and the company ceased communication.
  • An employee of a business in the 2300 block of Capital Drive parked their car in the parking lot at 11 p.m. Nov. 25. At 2:30 p.m. Nov. 26, they received a call from a family member that Lake County Sheriff’s Police were at their home, advising that a vehicle bearing their license plate had been used in several robberies in Franklin Park. They went to the parking lot and discovered the front license plate missing from the vehicle.

AMBULANCE ASSIST

A manager of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard called police at 8:39 p.m. Nov. 23, to report a patron had fallen asleep in the foyer area after drinking at the bar. Officers located the male, who was intoxicated and unable to answer basic questions. Glenview Fire responded to the scene and took the male to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A citizen called police on Nov. 23 to report that between Oct. 15 and Nov. 21, someone had stolen their 2025 Freightliner Cascadia semi-truck while it was parked in the 1500 block Paddock Drive. Estimated loss is $165,000.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A 7th Street resident called police at 12:40 p.m. Nov. 23, to report they had received a text message from an unfamiliar number containing names of his relatives. The victim then received texts containing images of deceased people, and then a phone call from an unknown male who demanded money. When officers called the number, no one answered.

ASSAULT

Two employees of a business in the 3800 block of Willow Road got into a verbal altercation at 8:17 p.m. Nov. 24, over putting dishes away. They each said the other had put their fists up as a threat to fight. The argument did not turn physical and there were conflicting statements.
