Neighbor Threatens To Kill Dog For Lawn Walk: Glenview PD Blotter

The person also reportedly threatened to kill the neighbor walking the dog with a gun because their lawn had just been fertilized.

  • Samuel Ruiz Martinez, 43, of the 4800 block of S. Kedvale Avenue, Chicago, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence (third or subsequent time), driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, driving while on a revoked license, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 2:57 p.m. April 26, following an investigation in the 1400 block of Waukegan Road. Martinez was released and assigned a court date of April 28.
  • Johnny Benitez, 32, of the 1200 block of Elm Street, Glenview, is accused of aggravated DUI, aggravated battery to a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, battery, DUI alcohol, driving on a revoked license, and was arrested at 5:30 p.n. April 27, following an accident with injuries in the 1500 block of Wagner Road. Benitez was in custody at Glenbrook Hospital at the time of the report.

A Royal Oak Lane resident reported at 4:12 p.m. April 22, receiving an email from their business partner with payment instructions to send a check to an account holder for $48,660.20. They later discovered the business partner's email was hacked and the actual account holder did not receive any payment. Their bank is conducting an investigation into the payment.

THEFT

An Arlington Heights residence reported on April 22 that, one week earlier, their AirPods were taken by someone while at a business in the 1800 block of Landwehr Road. They had left them in the men’s bathroom and they were tracked to an apartment building in Wilmette.

INTIMIDATION

A Mount Prospect resident reported at 7:57 p.m. April 22, receiving threatening messages from someone threatening to disseminate nude images of them. They received a message from someone on TikTok, who requested their phone number, and they had sexually explicit conversations. The resident sent nude photos and later the person demanded $500 in order to not send out the photos.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A Glenview resident reported at 8:46 a.m. April 24, that while driving on Lincoln Street, near Dews Street, another resident flagged them down. The person hit the car with their fist and yelled at them for speeding in the area before giving the middle finger. The resident said they did flag down the driver, however they only told them to reduce their speed due to the children in the area. They denied hitting the car or giving the middle finger. Both parties agreed to stay away from each other.

TRESPASS WARNING

A business owner in the 800 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported t 10:10 a.m. April 24, a Glenview resident was standing near the entrance to the business, bothering customers. The business owner said they asked the resident to leave, at which point they became upset but left when the owner said they were calling the police. The business owner said they wanted the resident to be trespassed from the property. Officers located the resident and advised them not to return to the property.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Police responded to the 2000 block of Claire Court at 10:26 a.m. April 25, for a report of a small fire on the ground outside a business in the 2000 block of Claire Court. Officers located someone standing near the remnants of the fire attempting to clean it up. They said that he did not start the fire but saw it as they were walking in the area. There were no witnesses that saw the fire being started. They cleaned up the area and left on foot.

RETAIL THEFT

Employees for a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported at 6:06 p.m. April 25, someone was inside the loss prevention office after being stopped for theft. The employee reported the person attempted to steal three steaks, Dial soap, Alka-Seltzer and a Clorox scrub. Total loss and recovery is $105.14. The person was issued a Village Ordinance for theft and trespassed from Target.

THREAT

A resident of the 400 block of 4th Street reported at 4:53 p.m. April 26, that while walking their dog, a neighbor began yelling at him. The complainant said the resident was upset because they were walking their dog on the lawn and told them they were going to kill them and their dog and threatened to get a gun. The resident admitted to getting into an argument due to the complainant walking their dog on the lawn that was just fertilized. The resident denied making any threatening statements. Both parties agreed to stay away from each other.
