'No War With Iran' Demonstration Planned In Glenview

GLENVIEW, IL — One of hundreds of planned demonstrations against escalation of military conflict with Iran is scheduled for Thursday in Glenview. A coalition of national political groups has organized events around the country calling for the United States to avoid "yet another unnecessary, costly war of choice in the Middle East," organizers announced.

In Glenview, protesters plan to gather at 5 p.m. at the Glenview Veterans War Memorial at Glenview Road and River Drive, across from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The demonstration will head down Glenview Road to spread out to the four corners of Glenview and Harlem Roads.

Attendees were asked to bring a flashlight and flags and signs that will be visible in the dark — and to be dress for the weather. Parking will be available at in the church parking lot and nearby, according to organizers.

Local protest organizers from Indivisible Glenview promised to "act with diplomacy and prioritize what is best for humanity" as part of a united majority in opposition to a war with Iran.

National groups involved in the coalition coordinating "No War With Iran: Day of Action" events on Jan. 9 include the AboutFace, Indivisible, MoveOn, the National Iranian American Council and Win Without War, according to a release.
