Phony 'Executive' Cons Business Out Of 'Audit' Payment: Blotter

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by Glenview police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
An employee in the 1300 block of Glenview Road reported at 12:26 p.m. on July 3 that someone had done $500 worth of damage to a window on a patio door during the previous overnight hours.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1700 block of Riverside Drive reported at 5:25 p.m. on July 4 that the driver’s side window on their vehicle had been shattered while parked on the driveway that afternoon hours, causing $150 worth of damage.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A resident in the 1400 block of Ammer Road reported at 2:51 p.m. on July 5 that a video they received electronically, apparently from Nigeria, caused them alarm and distress.

AUDIT SCAM
An employee of a business in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard got a call on the morning of July 6 from person purporting to be an “executive”, who asked for payments for an “audit”. The loss was reported to be $1,800.

THEFT OF LOST PROPERTY
A resident in the 1400 block of Sequoia Trail reported at 5:32 p.m. on July 6 that they had lost their $600 cellphone.

BURGLARY
A resident in the 1800 block of Linneman Street reported at 6:06 p.m. on July 6 that someone had gotten into their unlocked car parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and stolen a wallet and its contents for a reported loss of $440.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 2700 block of Landwehr Road reported at 9:55 a.m. on July 8 that someone had damaged a door frame while trying to get into their home for a reported loss of $200.

FRAUD
A resident in the 800 block of Harlem Avenue reported at 11:44 a.m. on July 8 that someone had made a $1,300 fraudulent purchase after intercepting a replacement credit card that had been sent through the mail.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO STATE PROPERTY
An employee in the 4000 block of West Lake Avenue reported at 12:12 a.m. that a trespasser had caused $1,300 in damage to doors, windows and equipment.

TRESPASS
A resident in the 2200 block of Strawberry Lane reported at 4 p.m. on July 9 that someone was on their property without permission.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee at a store in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 8:25 p.m. on July 9 that someone stole $94 worth of clothing from a rack.


ARRESTS

Robert Thom, 38, of the 6600 block of Double Eagle Drive in Woodridge, was arrested at Von Maur, 1960 Tower Drive and charged with retail theft. Police recovered $128 worth of merchandise from the store and learned he also had an active arrest warrant issued by the Lisle Police Department.

Peter Ahn, 41, of the 700 block of Golfview Terrace in Buffalo Grove, was arrested at 4 p.m. on July 5 in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue and charged with criminal damage to property following an investigation of a May 24 incident when a vehicle was scratched in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. on July 6 after fleeing a traffic stop in the 1700 block of East Lake Avenue and accused of driving under the influence of drugs, without a driver's license, speeding, fleeing police, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage.

A 44-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:08 a.m. on July 6 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 4000 block of West Lake Avenue. He was also cited for improper lane usage.

Kiran Pydisetty, 32, of the 24200 block of North 23rd Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on July 7 in the 2500 block of Lawson Glen Road and charged with domestic battery.

Valeriu Benasich, 48, of the 1600 block of Woodlawn Avenue in Glenview, was arrested at 4:09 p.m. on July 8 on his block of residence and charged with domestic battery.

A 27-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 6:20 p.m. on July 8 and charged with driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle following a traffic stop in the 600 block of East Lake Avenue.
