Pop-Up Popsicle Patrol Serves Cool Treats

"This is the best surprise ever!" one girl said as she got to the front of the line.

From Glenview Park District: Through the peak of summer heat, the Glenview Park District and Glenview State Bank are teaming up to celebrate the National Recreation and Park Association’s Park and Recreation Month by keeping guests cool with hundreds of free popsicles.

As a gaggle of children aged 4 to 10 chased their camp counselors on the playground at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School today, they quickly stopped and anxiously lined up in front of a cooler larger than most. “This is the best surprise ever!” a young girl exclaimed before taking her turn at the front of the line and receiving a bright blue popsicle.

The collaborative campaign features free prize bundles at Flick and Roosevelt pools, giving away a 2019 Family Pool Pass and surprising guests throughout the park district with the Pop-Up Popsicle Patrol (PUP-P). Partnership Manager AJ Sheth described the campaign’s goals as two-fold: encourage guests to discover what their park district has to offer and thank them for spending time with the Glenview Park District.

“We did a promotional campaign with Glenview State Bank last year that was just focused on our pools, but we wanted to take it one step further,” said Sheth. “This year, we’re also using PUP-P and the Park and Recreation Month theme to make more meaningful connections with our guests.”

“The campaign is centered around saying thanks to our guests that choose to share their summers with us,” said Sheth. “We always want to serve the community, but Park and Recreation Month is all about doing something to thank guests for playing, learning and growing with us.”
