Suspects Flee Police After Multiple Smash & Grab Burglaries Reported: Glenview Crime Reports

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS

On the morning of Sept. 12, spray paint damage was reported on several items in the 1000 block of Zenith Drive, including a vending machine, ice cooler, and bleachers. “LV”, “Free Smoke”, “ICE”, and “M” were spray painted with brown and blue spray paint causing an estimated $300 damage.
THEFT

On Sept. 12 at 7:05 p.m., a $10,000 Rolex Submariner watch was reported missing from a bag in the 2900 block of West Lake Avenue.
CANNABIS/PARAPHERNALIA
A 19-year-old Glenview man was issued a citation for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia under village ordinance on Sept. 13 at 10:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of Executive Lane.
BURGLARY
Police responded to a report of an activated burglar alarm in at a store in the 400 block of Glenview Road shortly before 3 a.m. on Sept. 14. Police said the owner of the business had gotten a call from the alarm company, drove to the store and found the front glass door had been broken. Cigarettes were taken from the front of the store and someone forced their way until an office and stole cash for a reported loss of $650.
BURGLARY
Police were called to a business alarm in the 1200 block of Waukegan Road on Sept. 14 at 3:21 a.m. When they arrived they found the glass front door of the business had been smashed out. The owner arrived and explained that 30 bottles of alcohol and $200 from the register had been stolen for a reported loss of $810.70. Police said video surveillance indicated two people broke the front door and were inside for less than two minutes. One wore a mask and the other was wearing a hoodie.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
While police were investigating the area of the above commercial burglaries, they discovered that three different doors to a business in the 1100 block of Waukegan Road had been cracked with a blunt object. Glass was still intact in all three door frames and it did not appear that burglars had gone inside. The reported loss was $300.
THEFT
On the morning of Sept. 14, multiple tools worth a combined $1,855 were reported stolen out of the back of several work trucks that had been parked overnight in the 600 block of Zenith Drive. Two leaf blowers were taken out of the back of one truck, while a hammer drill, a grinder, and another leaf blower were taken from a second truck.
DEFACEMENT
On the morning of Sept. 14, graffiti was discovered on several park signs in the 900 block of Shermer Road. The letters “FOh” and “AMOCK” were on the signs and believed to have been spray painted on sometime over the previous two weeks. Estimated damage was $100.
IDENTITY THEFT
On the morning of Sept. 15, a resident of the 600 block of Windsor Road reported someone had used her identity to write a $150 check at a California casino.
BATTERY
On Sept. 17 at 7:50 p.m., police responded to a business in the 2300 block of Capital Drive and spoke with a woman who told police a neighbor approached her, punched her in the upper back, shouted a profanity and then left the scene.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
A resident of the 2100 block of Valley Lo reported that around 1 a.m. that morning he had heard someone repeatedly ringing his doorbell. Home video surveillance footage showed two people looking around the front of his house, with one talking on a cell phone with a flashlight. The pair came back but later returned and looked around more before leaving northbound.
CAR BURGLARY
On the afternoon of Sept. 18, a burglary to motor vehicle was reported in the 4200 block of Commercial Way. It was believed to have happened sometime between Sept. 9-14.Two tarps and a small tool box was taken from the back of a pickup truck for a reported loss of $1320.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 2000 block of Henley reported sometime between 6 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 6 p.m. on Sept. 18, someone went through their vehicle that had been parked in the driveway. The vehicle was left unlocked and items from the glove box were on the front seat. Nothing appeared to be missing.
During the same period, someone rummaged through another unlocked vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 2000 block of Henley and took a key fob for a vehicle that had been left in the center console. The reported loss was $200.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
On Sept. 18, a homeowner in the 4000 block of Russet Way reported that around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon, a man had knocked on his door and asked if he needed any trees trimmed or his chimney washed. The homeowner took the man to the backyard to look at his trees. A short time later, he walked the subject back through the house and out the front door. Around 8:30 p.m. that night, it was discovered the master bedroom was ransacked with $2,000 in cash missing. The only suspect seen was described as a 30-year-old, 5-foot, 8-inch, 150-pound Hispanic man wearing a white sweater.
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
An 18-year-old Des Plaines man was stopped for a traffic violation and issued a village ordinance for possession of drug paraphernallia.
CAR BURGLARY
On the morning of Sept. 19, a resident in the 1200 block of Raleigh Road discovered that someone had entered their vehicle overnight while it had been left unlocked. A jacket and a golf glove were taken for a loss of of $205.
CAR BURGLARY
On the morning of Sept. 19, a resident in the 1300 block of Elizabeth Lane reported an someone had opened an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and used a garage door opener to enter the garage, where they then rummaged through a second vehicle parked in the garage. Only a set of headphones were missing for a loss of $30.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
On Sept. 19 at 1:38 a.m., a a resident in the 3500 block of Salem Walk heard the sound of glass breaking and saw four people going into a store in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The caller told police the group had left the business and fled the scene southbound on Milwaukee Avenue in a blue, four-door hatchback. Police found the vehicle on Milwaukee Avenue but terminated their pursuit due to the vehicle going through red lights. Officers from Niles PD and Morton Grove PD also attempted to stop the vehicle in their jurisdictions. It was not immediately known what was stolen. The estimated damage to the front door was $1,000.
STOLEN CAR
On the morning of Sept. 19, a resident in the 700 block of Wagner Road called to report one of their vehicles had been burglarized and another had been stolen. The homeowner told police they had not been able to find their ignition fob for their vehicle the previous day, so they used a second fob. The following morning, the vehicle was missing. Police contacted BMW tracking services, which indicated the vehicle was in an area of Chicago. Chicago PD had yet to locate the vehicle as of the afternoon of Sept. 19.
ARRESTS
WARRANT
Ryan Mason, 28, of the 900 block of Elizabeth Court, Wheeling, was arrested by the Forest Park Police Department on Sept. 11 at 12:15 p.m. on a bond forfeiture warrant issued by Glenview PD for retail theft. Glenview officers transported Mason back to the police department where he was held pending a bond hearing.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
Ji Park, 23, of the 0-100 block of Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, was arrested on Sept 12 at 12:41 a.m. at the intersection of Patriot Boulevard and Commons Drive and charged with driving while license suspended and arrested on an active warrant issued by Illinois State Police for failure to appear at a court appearance.
SPEEDING
A 31-year-old Chicago woman was arrested in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue on Sept. 12 at 6:45 a.m. and charged with speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit.
SPEEDING
A 30-year-old Glenview man was arrested at Milwaukee Avenue and Glenview Road on Sept. 12 at 7:08 p.m. and charged with speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit, operating a vehicle with expired registration and improper display of license plate.
NO VALID LICENSE
A 30-year-old Chicago woman was arrested in the 700 block of Waukegan Road on Sept. 12 at 11:16 p.m. and charged with no valid driver’s license and speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 19-year-old Park City man was arrested at Willow Road and Waukegan Road on Sept. 13 at 11:50 p.m. and charged with driving while license suspended. He was also cited for failure to surrender a suspended driver’s license, improper lane usage, and disobeying red Light.
NO VALID LICENSE
A 29-year-old Glenview man was arrested at the intersection of Winnetka Road and Pfingsten Road on Sept. 13 at 8:51 a.m. and charged with no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 15-20 mph above the speed limit, and operating a vehicle with expired registration.
SPEEDING
A 21-year-old Glenview man was arrested at Dewes Street and Harlem Avenue and charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the speed limit on Sept. 14 at 8:29 p.m.
DUI
Hector Romero-Salas, 24, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd Terrace was arrested in the 4500 block of Concord Lane on Sept. 15 at 1:29 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license revoked, illegal transportation of alcohol, and improper passing.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 56-year-old Mount Prospect man was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, driving with suspended registration, and speeding after a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Wagner Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 16.
SUSPENDED LICENSE
A 44-year-old Skokie woman was was arrested on Sept. 15 at 9:30 p.m. and charged with driving while license suspended, no rear registration light and improper display of registration sticker following a traffic stop in the 800 block of Wagner Road.
DUI
Megan A. Lalich, 23, of the 2400 block of Bel Air Drive, was arrested on Sept. 17 at 1:51 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, and speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
