TikTok Follower Calls Cops About Suicidal 'Family Member': Glenview Police Blotter

The resident told police that the complainant was not related to them, but instead a person that followed them on social media.

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Cristina Torres, 32, of the 4200 block of Sacramento Avenue, Chicago, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespass to a vehicle, had a warrant out of Lake County for a probation violation, and was arrested at 11:52 a.m. March 26, in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. She was taken to the Cook County Correctional Facility for a conditions hearing.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

  • A Wheeling resident reported at 6:16 p.m. March 24, being approached by someone asking for a walking escort down Milwaukee Avenue. While escorting them, a white van driven by an unknown white male began threatening them.
  • Police responded to the 1200 block of Elm Street at 6:40 p.m. March 27, after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers made contact with the resident and determined that it appeared to be a swatting call.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Plymouth Lane resident reported at 1:23 p.m. March 25, receiving phone calls from someone at the Gary Police Department saying that their bank accounts were hacked and they would transfer $25,000 for them to withdraw to investigate. The caller sent an Uber to their house to take them to the bank on three occasions, where they withdrew a total of $25,000. An unknown person came to their house three times after the withdrawals to pick up the cash. Total loss is $25,000.

THEFT

A resident of the 1600 block of Greenwood Road reported at 1:28 p.m. March 25, $5,612 in cash was missing from the residence. They suspect it was taken by employees for a window replacement
company that worked at the home.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A resident of Mulberry Court reported at 8:22 p.m. March 25, their neighbor had pushed over their snowblower, causing damage to it after it had been left running.

BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE

A Texas resident reported the catalytic converter of their rental vehicle was taken at some time overnight on March 26 while parked in a lot in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

THREAT

A Leamington Avenue resident reported at 7:39 p.m. March 27, being threatened via a Facebook comment by a Missouri resident. They said that they made a political post five weeks ago and the person replied to on the day of the report saying, "Chicago, huh? You shouldn't be that hard to find zionazi. Death to all Zionists."

FLEEING AND ELUDING

Police were conducting an extra watch at 2:54 a.m. March 28, in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue following recent catalytic converter thefts in the parking lot. The suspect car was described as a black Cadillac XTS with varying license plates. Officers saw a black Cadillac XTS enter the parking lot and drive though the parking lot. The driver of the Cadillac noticed squad cars in the area and quickly accelerated out of the parking lot and northbound on Milwaukee Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated and the Cadillac continued northbound exceeding
100 mph. Officers did not pursue the vehicle. The Cadillac was last seen driving northbound on
Milwaukee Avenue passing the Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling.

TRESPASS WARNING

The manager of a business in the 2500 block of Waukegan Road reported at 4:58 p.m. March 28, that a man had created a disturbance approximately two hours prior. He was using profanity and yelling at staff. They did not know the male. He has never made a purchase from their store; however, he had been coming in frequently. They wanted the male located and given a trespass warning.

DISTURBANCE

An employee of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:40 p.m. March 28, two customers were highly intoxicated. They were belligerent towards staff. Employees wanted them to leave for the night. The parties agreed to leave and left in a taxi.

HARASSMENT BY ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION

A Maryland resident reported at 7:37 a.m. March 29, that their family member had been making suicidal statements. Officers spoke with the "family" who said the complainant was not related to them, but was someone who followed them on TikTok and had been harassing them. They refused further assistance.
