Woodshop Fire Cancels School At Glenbrook South: District
According to Glenbrook High School District 225, all buses have safely left the campus Monday morning.

GLENVIEW, IL — Students were dismissed from Glenbrook South High School Monday morning following a fire and pipe burst in the school's woodshop. According to Glenbrook High School District 225, all buses have safely left the campus, and students who drive have been dismissed. Parents and guardians can go to the campus to pick up their students at the main entrance.
At around 9:23 a.m., the district says a fire alarm was triggered in the woodshop. The fire suppression system, including a sprinkler system, was activated near the woodshop. Students and staff were evacuated from the building.
With emergency personnel on the scene assessing the situation, students and staff were eventually allowed back into designated areas of the building where it was deemed safe by the Glenview Fire Department.

As the morning continued, the affected area had a large amount of water, and the decision was made to cancel school using a tiered system, according to the district. Parents were asked not to go to the campus to ensure a safe dismissal, which was done by PA announcement.
Later in the morning, District 225 announced all after-school sports were canceled, as were scheduled pictures for teams. Coaches will communicate additional information directly to their teams. In addition, all after-school clubs and activities are canceled. The Glenbrook Art Consortium reception has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 16.

In a social media post, Glenbrook North said it was aware of the fire at GBS, but will continue to follow its normal schedule.
During the 2022-2023 school year, a fire in the woodshop closed Glenbrook South for the better part of two days.
