LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 28-year-old Beach Park man was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Friday, authorities said. Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an area north of Route 41 and Kilbourne Road in unincorporated Gunree at about 1:30 a.m. where they found a 2001 Jaguar X in the trees east of the roadway, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, the 41-year-old Waukegan man, was seriously injured in the crash and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center. The Beach Park man, a front seat passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

A preliminary investigation shows the crash occurred when the Jaguar was heading north on Route 41 and lost control before heading off the roadway and hitting at least one tree, police said.
