MH 12 LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION APRIL 4 TO SCHOOL COUNSELORS

Matt Hupp was inspired by competitive excellence. He gave all he had to every sport he ever played, and as a result was transformed into a strong leader, demonstrating courage and discipline. Matt lost his battle to cancer in 2009 but the courage and discipline gained through his sports aided in his battle with cancer. Even on his worst days, he told everyone, “I’m fine”.

The MH12 Legacy Scholarship honors Matt’s leadership by awarding a $1500 scholarship to one graduating senior athlete from each of the following high schools – Grayslake Central H.S, Grayslake North H.S. and Carmel Catholic H.S. The student selected for this scholarship will have demonstrated (and be evaluated on) leadership, honesty, integrity, resilience, and teamwork through sports/athletics and/or volunteerism activities, all traits which Matt showed throughout his young academic and sports life.

SPECIFIC CRITERIA –

• Participation in a minimum of 1 complete season in high school sports program
• Demonstrated leadership and strong character traits gained in or demonstrated through sports and/or community service, work, and academics
• Class Rank of at least top 50% or minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale)
• Senior with proof of acceptance or intent to attend a 2 or 4 year Institution
