2017 Grayslake Colts B10 JV Wins TCYFL Superbowl

Grayslake youth football Big 10 JV team ended a tremendous season as the 2017 TCYFL B10 JV Superbowl Champions. The team, mostly comprised of 8th graders who have been in the program for 5-7 years, worked hard since the July. They battled the heat, practicing 3-4 days a week and towards the end of the season, many of them were playing basketball for their middle schools. They finished the regular season 7-2 and were the Elite Conference Champions.

Going into the playoffs, they earned the #1 seed and had a bye week the first week. Week #2 of the playoffs, they took on the #4 seed Oak Park Huskies, and played at Carmel High School on Saturday, November 4th. They beat the Huskies 22-6 to earn their way to a spot in the Superbowl.

Saturday, November 11th, at 3:30 pm at Carmel High School, the Grayslake Colts JV team took the field, many of those kids, for the last time as a Colt. Their opponent was the #3 seed BANA Knights, from the Batavia, Aurora and North Aurora area. The Knights had just come off a win the previous weekend over the #2 seed GPH Grizzlies.

At halftime, the score was Graylake 8, BANA 0. The second half, the Colts exploded. The Knights fought a hard game and played courageously, but it was no match for the Colts defense. The Colts held the Knights on 4th down several times, to take over on offense. The final score was Grayslake Colts 28, BANA Knights 6. Both teams left it all on the field and did not look back.

The Colts victory was well earned by the countless hours these kids and coaches put in. The life lessons these kids will take with them are invaluable. Each and every one of them played as a team, which our modo was this year, "Family". The coaching staff could not be more proud of the their hard work and determination. Both the coaching staff and players want to acknowledge the countless hours behind the scenes the Colts board of directors, parents and family and friends, that have supported the 2017 Grayslake Colts B10 JV team.
