AT&T RECOGNIZES GRAYSLAKE YOUTH CENTER (THE OASIS) WITH “INVESTING IN ILLINOIS AWARD,” OFFERS NEW RESOURCE TO HELP TECH BEGINNERS
AT&T’s “Digital You” Program Offers Tips and Apps to Help with Identity Theft, Cyberbullying, and Smartphone Security
Grayslake, IL September 29, 2015 — Grayslake Youth Center won an AT&T* “Investing in Illinois Award” for its non-profit work to help people in Illinois. Grayslake Youth Center will receive $2,000 from AT&T to be used to assist this organization with its mission of providing teenagers of Grayslake and surrounding communities a safe and stimulating place to go after school and on weekends.
“There are great non-profit organizations improving lives in Illinois. By supporting these organizations, we’re strengthening the communities we serve,” said Tricia Conway, external affairs manager, AT&T.
Senator Melinda Bush nominated Grayslake Youth Center for the recognition from AT&T Illinois. The AT&T “Investing in Illinois Awards” provide resources and recognition to organizations and programs that improve lives in their communities and the state. They’re advancing education, economic growth, new technologies and other essential community services.
The company also highlighted Digital You, its new resource to help tech beginners of all ages. It helps them with the basics of using a smartphone or tablet, keeping online information private and secure. It also helps users with disabilities activate accessibility features through training resources and tip sheets.
Digital You offers Digital Compass™, a free interactive game developed by Common Sense, to teach 6- 9th graders about the real-world impact of their online choices.
