Grayslake CCSD 46 violated the Open Meetings Act according to an opinion by the Illinois Attorney General dated Sept 8, 2016. The complaint filed by Grayslake community member Suzanne Morris was in regard to a meeting held to discuss the evaluation process for teachers as part of the implementation of law implemented in 2012.
The District appointed a Joint Committee to develop a process of evaluation with discussions limited to the evaluation process only with no discussion of individual performances.
"I am grateful that the Attorney General ruled in favor of open government," said Morris. "The school districts in our area account for most of the tax bill in Grayslake, and we need to know how and why decisions are made."
