Circus Open House
Visit MAS - Movement Arts Space, Circus Kazoo and Monkey Aerial Arts on Nov. 20 in Grayslake.
Movement Arts Space (MAS) is hosting an open house on November 20 from 4-6PM. If you are curious about what is happening in the mysterious space at the corner of Atkinson Rd. and Center St. in Grayslake, here is your chance to come check it out. There will be refreshments, live demos and opportunities to try some of the circus arts that are offered by Circus Kazoo and Monkey Aerial Arts for both children and adults.
MAS is just getting ready to begin their third formal session of classes. This winter session will run from Nov. 22-Jan. 10 and sign up will be available at the event.
Why circus? Circus arts are a fabulous way to stay fit, build resilience and gain new life skills in a fun, community-centered, non-competitive environment. In addition, circus exists at the intersection of art and athleticism providing challenge and inclusion for everyone.
About MAS. MAS was co-founded by two experienced teachers as a shared space for their respective circus arts companies. Jennifer Richard, founder of Circus Kazoo and Tera McBlaine, founder of Monkey Aerial Arts teamed up together to be able to offer a dedicated community-oriented space for circus.
Jennifer wove together passions for community, education, movement, and the arts, to create a space where Lake County could gather to experience them all together in the circus. Circus Kazoo was launched in 2013 and has expanded to offer numerous ground based disciplines for youth and adults. After many years of teaching in Chicago and noticing lack of availability of aerial classes in Lake County, Tera decided to found Monkey Aerial Arts. The mission of Monkey Aerial Arts is to provide high-quality instruction at a beginner and intermediate level with a focus on safety and body awareness.
