Coroner IDs Toddler Who Drowned In Pool In Lake Villa
The incident occurred in the 100 block of Balsam Avenue in Lake Villa on Saturday morning, authorities said.

LAKE VILLA, IL — A toddler is dead after drowning in a pool in Lake Villa on Saturday night, authorities said.
On Monday, the Lake County Coroner's Office identified the toddler as Zayden Zavodny, 3, of Lake Villa. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Balsam Avenue just before 9 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the coroner's office.
Lake Villa police Lt. James DeCaro told the Daily Herald the incident happened when the toddler apparently fell into the pool at a home. The child was later pronounced dead at Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Preliminary autopsy results show the cause of death is consistent with drowning.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, authorities said Monday.

The drowning is the fourth drowning incident in Lake and McHenry counties in recent days. A 35-year-old Schaumburg man died following an incident at Fort Sheridan Beach in Lake Forest; a child drowned in Fox River Grove on Friday morning; and a boy has been hospitalized after wandering away from home in Lake in the Hills. The boy was later rescued from a pond by golfers.
