Firefighting Mayor Headlines Book Worm Jamboree
The Goddard School in Third Lake Collecting Books for Children At-Risk
The Goddard School in Third Lake held a school-wide Bookworm Jamboree on January 30, 2020 to support of their month-long book drive in partnership with Bernie's Book Bank. The 20+ Chicago-land Goddard Schools have a goal of collecting 25,000 books by February 14, 2020. Over the last 6 years, The Goddard Schools have collected and distributed over 200,000 books to children-at-risk in Illinois, birth through 12 years.
The Jamboree gathered over 200 children, staff, along with Cat in the Hat and the Magic School Bus Ms. Frizzle for a sing-a-long and book reading. Children were encouraged to bring books to donate as part of the celebration.
"We had 3 goals for the event," stated David Raye, Owner, "first was to celebrate a local hero, second to celebrate our love of books, and third to share those books with children that do not have them. In that we succeeded and had lots of fun doing so."

"As an acknowledged leader in early childhood education, The Goddard School is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing place where children can learn, explore and discover their interests," said David. "For the last 16 years, we have hired, trained and retained a wonderful staff of educators that have allowed us to excel in the area of curriculum, leading to national recognition."
