Funds Raised For Round Lake Beach Teen Killed In Crash

Alexis Coria, 18, was killed in a collision when the motorcycle he was riding crashed with a sports utility vehicle Monday afternoon.

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL β€” Funds are being raised for the family of an 18-year-old Round Lake Beach man who was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the collision happened when the motorcycle Alexis Coria, of Round Lake Beach, was driving was headed south on Cedar Lake Road and crashed with a 2008 Saturn sports utility vehicle at the intersection of Ferndale Drive at about 2:38 p.m. Monday.

Funds raised as part of a GoFundMe fundraiser will help the Coria family pay for funeral expenses. Alexis's friend, Omar Medrano, organized the GoFundMe, which has brought in $3,200 as of Wednesday morning.

Medrano said Alexis was an amazing person with a huge heart. He said he'd known Alexis for 18 years and added his friend was like a brother to him.

"We played video games together almost every day since 2014 and on nice days, we would go on motorcycle rides with our group," Medrano wrote on the GoFundMe.

Following the Monday afternoon collision, Coria was taken by ambulance to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities. The driver of the SUV was not injured.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show Coria died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
