Grayslake Central Makes Best High Schools List

GRAYSLAKE, IL - Grayslake Central High School has been ranked among the best high schools in the state, according to annual rankings released Monday by U.S. News & World Report. But, Grayslake North High School did not make the 2016 Best High Schools list.

Grayslake Central was ranked as the 27th best high school in Illinois, according to the U.S. News & World Report's 2016 Best High Schools list. Other nearby high schools to make the list include Vernon Hills High School (No. 21) and Libertyville High School (No. 18).

"The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 21,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia," states U.S. News & World Report. "Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments, their graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college."

The report includes information about curriculum, test scores and student demographics.

In the state, Northside College Preparatory High Schoolcame in first. The No. 1 high school in the U.S. rankings is the School for the Talented and Gifted in Dallas, Texas. The highest-ranked suburban school was Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, which was No. 5 on the list.
