Grayslake High School District 127 Students Explore the World
Exploring World Cultures class provides a unique opportunity for students to study the history, culture and challenges of Japan.

Our students are preparing for a once in a life time experience of travel and culture.
Not only will they discover the world, but they will also discover themselves. We not only meet in the classroom to read, write and discuss Japan’s past and present, but we also travel halfway around the world to see our studies come alive. After over 40 hours of class time at home, students will travel to Japan to discover the unique culture that this amazing country has to offer.

Reflection is an important part of all learning and student growth, and it is particularly valuable for experiential learning and travel. As students complete classes at home and as they prepare for what will be the first travel experience for many, they will begin to create a Google Tour Builder including stories, ideas, and photographs of their experiences along the way. Finally, upon return to the U.S., students will complete their Tour Builders with final thoughts and understandings about the value of global travel; these Tours will be available to share with family and friends. The class t-shirts and transportation you sponsor will fuel the curiosities, joys, challenges and excitement of many students’ first cultural experience overseas.
