Lawlor Re-Elected Chairman of the Lake County Board
Lawlor was also sworn into his fourth term representing District 18.

The Lake County Board re-elected Aaron Lawlor as its chairman and re-elected Carol Calabresa (District 15, Libertyville) as its vice-chairman. This is Lawlor’s third term as chairman, which is a two-year term, according to a county news release.
Lawlor, 34, was also sworn into his fourth term representing District 18, which includes all of Vernon Hills and Indian Creek, as well as portions of Hawthorn Woods, Long Grove and unincorporated Lake County.
After thanking board members for their vote of confidence in him, Lawlor praised his fellow leaders for their ability to work together and noted how that distinguishes Lake County from the partisanship and divisiveness that occurs at the federal and state government levels, according to the news release.

He also outlined his priorities for the next term, including advancing comprehensive solutions for mental health issues, investing in roads and infrastructure, promoting economic development and building a talent pipeline to better match employers' needs with training opportunities and school curriculum, according to the news release.
“We will continue to invest in our economy, infrastructure and open space, but what really makes Lake County great is our people. In advancing these priorities, we are investing in people, and that is critical as we chart our course for the future,” Lawlor said.

Lawlor also noted the county’s history of fiscal responsibility and AAA bond rating, and said he will continue to pursue efforts to make county government more efficient, cost-effective and accountable, which includes consolidation of units of government where it makes sense.
“In today’s fiscal environment, we must think differently and act differently,” he said. “As Chairman, I will work hard to ensure Lake County continues to be fiscally responsible now and into the future so that our county remains a great place to live, work, and do business.”
Lawlor was appointed to the county board in 2009, elected in 2010, re-elected in 2012 and 2016. He was elected chairman in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
