More Officers Patrolling As Holiday Campaign Gets Underway
The Lake County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the statewide holiday traffic campaign.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office will launch its holiday traffic safety campaign this week.
From Dec. 17 through Jan. 3, more officers will be out patrolling roadway as part of a statewide traffic safety initiative targeting impaired drivers.
“Many people enjoy holiday parties this time of the year, but please be do not let that fun party end in tragedy by mixing alcohol or drugs into the driving equation,” said Lake County Sheriff John D. Idleburg. “Plan ahead and take a ride share or grab a ride with someone sober if you will be drinking or ingesting cannabis.”

During the traffic safety campaign, additional deputies will conduct traffic enforcement, placing an emphasis on arresting impaired drivers.
The holiday enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
