Motorcyclist Killed In Lake Co. Crash
The crash occurred Friday morning in Antioch Township.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake Villa Township man is dead following a motorcycle crash Friday morning. Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the area of West Grass Lake Road and Kathryn Drive in Antioch Township at about 5:15 a.m. for a report of a motorcycle down, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. When they arrived at the scene, they found a 1999 Honda Motorcycle on the south side of the roadway.
After a brief search, the driver was found in the tree line near the motorcycle, police said.
A preliminary investigation shows the driver of the motorcycle was traveling east on Grass Lake Road just west of Kathryn Drive when, for an unknown reason, his motorcycle left the roadway on the south side of the road, according to the news release.

The motorcycle then struck a tree and the driver was seriously injured. He was pronounced dead when paramedics and sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, authorities said.
An autopsy is being scheduled by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
The crash is the second motorcycle fatality this week in Lake County. On Wednesday, a Wisconsin man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a Jeep in Newport Township.
