Nicasa Celebrates $40,000 Grant from Walmart Foundation

Grant helps provide nutrition services to after-school program, youth and adults in treatment

On Friday, Lake County-based Nicasa celebrated a $40,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. The grant, made possible by the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program, enables Nicasa to expand its services to include nutrition education, reinforcing the message that healthy eating and shopping have lifelong benefits.

“So many people will benefit from the nutrition education that they will receive through this grant,” said Bruce Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Nicasa. “With Walmart’s support, Nicasa is able to give our youth and families a clearer understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle.”

The grant was presented to Nicasa CEO Bruce Johnson by David Appleby, a store manager with Walmart, during a check presentation ceremony held November 11 at Nicasa’s Annual Board and Staff Retreat.
