While at the home, Quinn, who brought a firearm along, got into a fight with a man at the residence, according to police.
"It was someone inside the residence, that he did have some past issues with," said Covelli, adding that police were not identifying the man who Quinn got into an argument with. He added that he did not know what, specifically the two were arguing about.
He got out his gun out and a struggle between the two men followed. During that struggle, the firearm discharged, striking Quinn's 25-year-old wife, who was pregnant, in the head, according to authorities.
The Lake County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the fetus Wednesday morning, Coroner Howard Cooper said. The coroner's office has not yet released any additional information into that autopsy.
