Saint Gilbert Girls 8th Grade Volleyball ended a dream season. The team, comprised of many girls who have been with the program since 5th grade, demonstrated that experience. Their unity and cohesion were on full display in a season where they would be crowned champions.
In their second year of competition in the Northern Illinois Catholic Conference, SGS Volleyball played a full slate of twelve conference games as well as playing in three tournaments to hone their skills. And it was a stunningly successful year. The team swept their entire conference slate of games, finishing the year undefeated. In addition to the conference challenges, the team exposed themselves to even heavier competition, taking part in three different tournaments – The Wisconsin Juniors Tourney, the Saints Peter and Paul Tournament and a hometown tournament hosted by Saint Gilbert. Just as in conference, the team placed first in all three tournaments.
But there was a final challenge for the girls. In the NICC, one does not just win the conference by winning the most conference games: There is also a year-end conference tournament where all NICC conference teams battle to be crowned the final champion. Though the competition was heavy, Saint Gilbert did again – winning not just the conference, but the conference tournament as well. In sum, Saint Gilbert Girls Varsity Volleyball concluded the season with a record of 37-4.

The victories will provide lifelong memories for the girls, as they prepare to leave Saint Gilbert for high school next year. The coaches are very proud of the commitment of their girls. Meanwhile, both the coaches and the girls are thankful for the school’s continued support and, of course, the support of their families.
