SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, made the following statement on Thursday:

“Today, I voted against a regressive income tax increase for middle-class families and small businesses in my district. The measure did not include much-needed property tax relief for my constituents, and I was unable to support it as a result.

Despite the toxic political environment, I’ve worked cooperatively with rank and file members of the house on both sides of the aisle to put an end to Governor’s budget crisis.

In the end, I supported a bi-partisan budget that cuts nearly $3 billion in state spending. I will continue my legislative efforts with rank and file members of the house to provide real property tax relief to our families and consolidate government to reduce wasteful spending.

I remain committed to working with rank and file lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to give children, families, seniors and small business owners in my district the tools they need to build stronger, better lives.”
