GRAYSLAKE, Ill. -While the legislative session has been in overtime, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake was able to push forward some new legislation that will become law on January 1, 2016.
“I have prioritized measures that reduce taxe burdens on hardworking Illinoisans and small businesses and reduce government overhead. I also wanted to make sure we strengthen law enforcement’s ability to go after dangerous sexual predators,” Yingling said.
Among Yingling’s legislative highlights was Senate Bill 659, which created a one-stop shop for Illinois businesses to receive assistance and permits they may need from the state. To help reduce the number of taxing bodies in Illinois, House Bill 228 places a four-year moratorium on attempts to create any new unit of local government in Illinois, promoting local entities to consolidate, find greater efficiencies, and work together to reduce property taxes. Yingling sponsored House Bill 369, which expands the statute of limitations for victims of sexual assault to bring their cases forward and extends the time which law enforcement and prosecutors can press charges.
Yingling stated, “As a full time representative, I believe that getting out into the community is the best method to ensure that I truly represent the views of the 62nd District. I look forward to more coffee shop visits, community meetings and door-to-door conversations so I can continue working on behalf of my constituents in the New Year.”
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
