SPRIGNFIELD, Ill –An unemployment reform measure supported by state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, and recently signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner, will make it easier for job creators to add employees, and benefit older unemployed Illinoisans.
“The legislature must continue to focus on reform measures that help get our fiscal house in order, while growing the economy,” Yingling said. “This measure strengthens protections for Illinois families who are out of work and enables our businesses to generate and maintain quality jobs.”
Yingling voted in favor of House Bill 1285, which reinforces the standards for employee wrongdoing, stops Social Security age and disability-based benefits from lessening unemployment benefits, and removes issues that may have led to over $400 million in taxes on employers. The measure passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in both legislative chambers, and was recently signed into law by Rauner.
“The enactment of this law is the direct result of working with my colleagues across the aisle, legislative leaders, and the governor to pass a pro-jobs, pro-reform bill,” Yingling said. “I welcome the continued support and participation of my Republican colleagues as we continue our work of reforming and improving Illinois while protecting middle-class taxpayers.”
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
