GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – To help promote National Blood Donor Month, an initiative of the American Red Cross, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D- Grayslake, is encouraging residents to donate blood during the month of January.
“Donating blood may seem like a small deed, but it’s easy and literally can mean the difference between life and death for people in our own community,” Yingling said. “Our local medical providers and public safety personnel are always in search of those who can donate blood. I encourage residents to not only donate blood themselves, but to spread the word about National Blood Donor Month to their friends, neighbors, and family.”
Residents can donate blood at a number of area clinics throughout the community. The process takes very little time and includes four easy steps which are: registration, a mini free physical, the blood collection, and light refreshments afterward. Interested donors or people seeking additional information about where and how to donate blood or eligibility are encouraged to call the American Red Cross at (312) 729-6100 or visit their website at www.redcrossblood.org.
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
