GRAYSLAKE, Ill –With many consumers starting their holiday shopping after Thanksgiving, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is encouraging residents to support Small Business Saturday on November 28 to help ensure money is spent locally.
“We can all play a part in helping our communities thrive economically by buying our holiday items from our terrific local stores,” Yingling said. “Supporting local, small businesses helps retain jobs and keeps our money in the area; I encourage residents to do their holiday shopping right here in the 62nd District.”
Small Business Saturday is recognized annually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving as a way of helping local merchants compete with big box retailers and online retailers during their busy Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping times. Yingling highlighted the merits of shopping at local stores that provide jobs for local residents, tax revenue, sponsorship for community groups, support for charities and outstanding personalized services.
“Our region benefits when our local businesses do well,” Yingling said. “In addition to meeting with local business advocacy groups and small to medium size companies to enlist their ideas in the policy making process, I remain dedicated to and supporting common sense solutions that make Illinois a better place to do business.”
Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
