ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. - Representative Sam Yingling (D-Grayslake) issued the following statement:
“After 720 days without a budget or meaningful property tax relief for working families, at the same time that he’s sending out misleading mail-pieces and robo-calls to Illinois residents, the Governor gave a so-called “unity” speech using the same divisive talking points he’s used throughout this budget crisis.
Now more than ever it’s clear that this failed Governor has no interest in working across party lines to move this state forward. His sole purpose in delivering his so-called “unity” address is to cover up his continued failure.
There is no doubt about it: Governor Rauner will continue to drag Illinois down a path of financial destruction, lying about his record and ignoring the needs of children and families of the 62nd district to pursue his own special interests.Governor Rauner refuses to do his job, and as a result my constituents still pay into an abusive property tax system while Illinois continues to spiral down the drain of financial ruin.
Unlike the Governor, as I have all session, I’m going to spend the next 10 days of special session in Springfield working cooperatively with rank and file members of the House from both sides of the aisle to find common ground. He’s welcome to stop by to see what actual cooperation looks like. We’re on the third floor.”
