GRAYSLAKE, Ill.—Residents of Lake County are encouraged to attended an educational program being hosted by state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, and the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter, on June 21 at Fremont Township Administration Center from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“The danger in this disease is that many of us see signs of Alzheimer’s as side effects of normal aging, when in fact it can be warning signs of what is to come. Simply knowing the signs can go a long way in helping to prevent and manage this horrible disease,” Yingling said. “Furthermore, Alzheimer’s does not differentiate between political parties, race, class or gender. Chances are it affects someone we know, and it is important that we all work together to help be aware and work toward ridding the world of this crippling disease.”
Yingling’s event is open to the general public with no admission cost, and will be held at the Fremont Township Administration Center, located at 22385 W. Illinois Route 60 in Mundelein. The event will cover the ten early detection signs of Alzheimer’s along with firsthand accounts of those with the disease. The program will run from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Yingling will also be providing a brief update on health care issues in Illinois. RSVP is not necessary, but it is appreciated. For more information or to RSVP, please call 847-231-6262.
“Illinois is facing an Alzheimer’s disease epidemic, and with experts forecasting a near-20 percent increase in the number of residents living with this terrible disease, a strong public policy response is critical to protecting residents’ lives,” Jen Belkov, VP of Public Policy, Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Illinois Chapter, said. “We truly appreciate Representative Yingling’s commitment to making Illinois a dementia-capable state and promoting Alzheimer’s disease awareness, brain health and early detection in local communities.”
Yingling represents the 62nd district, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
