Yingling Invites Residents to Free Income Tax Credits and Exemptions Seminar

ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – To help educate residents about ways that may help them keep more of their hard-earned money, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is hosting an Income Tax Seminar on Wednesday, March 21 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Avon Township offices, located at 433 E. Washington St. in Round Lake Park.

“I have led property tax appeals workshops with our local assessors and hosted informative sessions on my recent flood victims tax credit law, and I want to continue to help connect area families with valuable tax credits and exemptions,” Yingling said. “Taxpayers deserve every break they can get.”

Yingling’s Income Tax Seminar will feature Carol Portman, president of the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois and Ralph Martire, executive director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability who will discuss tax credits and exemptions residents can qualify for to help keep more of what they earn.

Yingling has been a vocal critic of our current tax structure and is the main sponsor of a bill to freeze property taxes. He also voted against the 32% income tax hike the state legislature passed.

“My constituents and the hard-working families I represent are already struggling with skyrocketing property taxes and I will continue to push an aggressive agenda that calls for a complete overhaul of our tax code to give middle-class families a break,” Yingling continued. “In the meantime, I want to make sure people are aware of exemptions they may qualify for and encourage them to join me at this event.”
