GRAYSLAKE, Ill. – Environmentally focused state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is encouraging local residents to help persevere and protect Lake County’s forestry, wildlife and waterways in observance of World Environment Day this Sunday.

“Lake County is home to some of the most beautiful nature preserves and waterways and it is important that we all work together for the betterment of our state and communities’ natural health,” Yingling said. “By partnering with our friends, families and neighbors for a couple hours this Sunday to help pick up litter in our own communities and parks, we can improve the quality of life for all.”

This Sunday, June 5, marks the observance of World Environment Day. Yingling is encouraging residents across the state to help make our environment better by volunteering to help clean up at a local park or at a nature preserve. Yingling is also suggesting people talk about the importance of preservation with their neighbors and help spread the word by sharing environmentally oriented social media posts.

“In addition to fighting for lower taxes, government reform and a responsible budget, championing policies that help preserve and protect our state’s natural landscapes and more continues to be a major focus for me,” Yingling said. “From helping pass laws that make recycling options more available to our communities to supporting various clean jobs initiatives and hosting my Environmental Forums with the Sierra Club and local groups, I firmly believe lawmakers need to work with all community stakeholders for the betterment of our natural resources and wildlife.”

Yingling represents the 62nd District, which contains portions of Gages Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Hainesville, the Round Lake communities, Wauconda and Wildwood.
