2 Homes Burgled On Friday The 13th: Highland Park Crime Reports

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded than an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which are often dropped or reduced, represent merely accusations by the state. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

CAR BURGLARY

Someone got into two unlocked parked cars in the 700 block of Barberry Road but no items were reported missing at 9:33 p.m. on Oct. 9.

Someone went inside an unlocked parked car in the 700 block of Barberry Road and went through the glovebox, but no items were rported missing at 9:49 p.m. Oct. 9.

CAR BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked parked car in the 500 block Barberry Road on Oct. 9 sometime between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. An iPod was reported missing.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Graffiti written in colored chalk was discovered in the 3400 block of Krenn Avenue on the Old Elm Park Field House chalkboard, picnic table and sidewalk areas on the morning of Oct. 11.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Oct. 11 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., someone reportedly keyed a black Mazda that was parked in a lot in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Someone entered a home in the 700 block of Detamble Avenue "without force" and removed two older suitcases, a bike lock and a diamond ring, it was reported on the evening Oct. 13.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

Someone entered a home in the 300 block of Laurel Avenue, possibly by an unlocked door, sometime between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Oct. 13. Drawers had been rummaged through and various items were reported stolen, including cash, jewelry and passports.

RETAIL THEFT

A business in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road reported at 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 14 that a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses had been taken from a display.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 33-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested Oct. 12 at 2:50 a.m. and charged with speeding more than 35 mph over the speeding limit with a suspended license after she was pulled over in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road.

A 20-year-old Highland Park man was cited administratively on Oct. 14 at 6:52 p.m. for retail theft after he reportedly concealed two bottles of liquor and tried to leave a business in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road without paying.
