30 Percent Cut In Parking Requirement Requested By Highwood Apartment Developer

The builder of a proposed 5-story development on Green Bay Road doesn't want to include all 82 required parking spaces.

HIGHWOOD, IL – The developer of a proposed apartment building on Green Bay Road in Highwood has asked for a reduction of more than 30 percent to the number of parking spaces required under the plan, Pioneer Press reports. Last week, the Highwood Planning and Zoning Commission voted in favor of a plan to include 56 parking spaces instead of 82 spots in the ground floor of the building, which will contain 52 apartment units.

The apartments will rent from around $1,500 to $1,800 a month for one of its 28 one-bedroom units and from $2,100 to $2,400 for one of the two-bedrooms, the developer told commissioners, according to the Highland Park News.

After buying the the property at 440 Green Bay Rd. in 2012, Pioneer Press reported Highwood sold it to the developer for $350,000 two years ago and agreed to offer some Tax Increment Financing for its redevelopment.
