Annette Lidawer Declares Candidacy For Highland Park City Council
Lidawer seeks to build on her experience as a plan and design commissioner as she runs for a four-year term on the City Council.

Highland Park, IL – December 14, 2020 – Annette Lidawer, Commissioner on the City of Highland Park Plan & Design (PDC) and former President of the Board of Education of Township High School District 113, announces her candidacy for the Highland Park City Council.
Lidawer was appointed by Mayor Nancy Rotering with the consensus of the Highland Park City Council as a member of the PDC and elected twice to the District 113 Board. She is a twenty year Highland Park resident. Lidawer filed her petitions on November 16th with more than double the amount of signatures required by law.

“Recognizing the trying times for our community and the nation, we need experienced leadership. My personal and professional background includes vast inter-governmental work, extensive community service, and a deep understanding of this community. As I have done in the past, I will work strategically and collaboratively to continue to navigate challenging issues exacerbated by the pandemic and to find solutions to the issues that matter most to all of us.”
Lidawer is a licensed attorney with extensive political and governmental experience. She previously served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York and as District Administrator for Congressman Stephen Solarz. She has been the Grants Chair for the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Chicago for the past four years and is a Member of the Jewish Child and Family Services (JCFS) Board of Directors.

Lidawer and her husband, Rob Rubin raised their three children, Matthew, Ari and Allie Rubin, in Highland Park. They attended Braeside, Edgewood and Highland Park High School. Lidawer graduated from Brown University and Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
Lidawer commented, “My leadership skills and ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders has already made Highland Park an even better place to live and visit. As a Commissioner on PDC, I have addressed some of the core issues facing the city, including commercial flexibility in variances to attract and assist businesses, encouraging sustainable development, and bringing a practical ‘can do’ perspective while considering the effects of development on neighbors and the character of Highland Park. I look forward to the opportunity to continue my work as a member of the City Council.”
